great forst outing with my new p51 and intake...

well I had a 533 with scj head new style victor intake and a 4500 quick fuel 1250.. car had a 1.80 glide with 3.73 gears running 275 drag radial. Best time on motor was 6.33 @ 113. tried to spray her and blew trans up.. So I bought an FTI 1.58 ratio powerglide and , sold my head and intake to a friend.. called Lem up for a custom cam, p51s and trick flow mafia intake. Installed everything and get it running just in time for No Mercy in Ga this past weekend.. No time to test so we went for it and tried to spray her first pass.. Only a 150 hit.. She left clean and scoreboard lit up a 5.99@120.. I figured not bad.. Got back to pits weighed the bottle only a 1/2 lbs of nos was gone. Traced it to a faulty throttle switch.. That's right that was on motor.. also, I had -10 plugs 118 nos fuel and pulling 5 degrees for 1 second to soften the nos.. LOL shes a runner.. fixed the problem then had progressive issues the rest of the weekend.. But man she runs good. Now Im tempted to gear her up and try to run ultra street on HP.. She should go 40s or 30 all ironed out.. thanks to lem for a killer combo..

you should have looked me up I was on the back side of the staging area.I could have helped you with the progressive.

Thanks for the offer, But Randy from leash and I got it figured out last night.. How'd you end up doing?? You still running p51 combo??

These threads got me on the button to buy a new set of pistons and do the P51 swap. I could definitely get into running 5's on motor!

1.58 low gear will be good for the standing mile

Some good numbers there. If I could go 120 in the 1/8th the number would be 5.7, that low first gear number must be taking away your 60ft. Isnt it nice to be in the 5s?

just installed new afcos and lowered the car, gonna test n tune friday

That's about the only gear we sell in glides now at our shop. Even on NA cars. We're able to leave harder because we can actually give the car the rear gear it wants to rpm in high gear.

I love my P51s and they really make good power

went testing last night, Had the 400 tune up in her.. HAs progressives with a dual ramp(leash) starting at 10% held for .8 then from .8 to 2.5 to 100% I was ramping 5 degrees out for 2 seconds off the launch retard.. Went right down the track to a 5.13@ 138 with a 1,21 sixty I pedaled once cause she got higher then I liked with only 4 passes on the car.. The plugs are nice and clean but fat with no heat in them.. Im sure she has a low 90 to high 80 in her, then we'll get a tune up in her...

If you dont mind saying how much does your car weigh. Our engines are similar i got my rods crank and block from Lem great service. I went with the P51 mafia combo as well. I have twin foggers on mine but may not need but one LOL. Do you like that first gear ratio im not sure yet between glide or a 2nd gear leave TH400.

car weighs 3180 with me in it.. Has to weigh 2900 for x275 since Im running a plate and not a fogger..Looking into lighteneing the car.. maybe some carbon fiber doors and lexan windows..

quick update, didn't change anything but took 1/2 the front end travel out of the car and she responded with a 1.17 60ft and a 5.06 at 138.. Going to leave tune up alone and change rear gears to a 4.30 see how she does..

 Your car is a lot lighter. You should be able to get away with quite a bit less gear then what the OP is changing to.

aint it amazing how much more power the engine makes when the car/truck/etc is working good.

tried a 4.10 from the 3.73 wow what a different animal. climbed the ring gear three time, took an extra 5 degrees out and left fine shook the tires after the 6.. Im goin back to the 3.73s and add power...
