BBF swap
Just picked up my first dragster, it's a 235" slip joint spitzer. First order of business is to get the BBC disease out of it. As far is converting to the BBF is it as simple as laying the BBC motor and midplate over the BBF ones and matching up the crank center lines? That's how it works in my head anyways. As far as the headers, they need to be re coated anyhow so I think I will just cut the flanges off and fit some proper SCJ flanges on rather than the adaptors.

Re: BBF swap
The adapters actually work very well and can be worth se power over the ford flanges.

Re: BBF swap
Which adapters are you having success with? Is it because of the transistion angle rah they have that they work better than flanges?

Re: BBF swap
I just sent an email to a guy that I sold my Spitzer car to. If he still has the plates I'll hook you up with him. I know he's running the other brand. Have you measured the rail centers?

Charlie Evans adapters, it's the round to oval that helps with back flow prevention.

Re: BBF swap
Curt, that would be fantastic. The rails are 21.5" inside to inside. I actually just seen the Evans adapters, those would be great considering he worked the heads. Thanks guys.

It should fit a 21.5" frame fine, you'll probably need either a remote oil filter or a 90 adaptor too.

Yes I already run a remote oil filter so that should be ok too.

Re: BBF swap
Bit of an update. Thanks out to Curt, he got ahold of the guy that bought his car, unfortunately the plates did not work out but the new owner was more than willing to help.
Called Spitzer as the car had some nice chev plates with it so I thought maybe they could supply me with the Ford stuff, was told they could not help me without the car being there. That was obviously not feasible given the 1500+ miles between us. I got in contact with Keith as he had built a custom midplate for my door car, he said no problem just send the original plates and a few measurements. Keith went over and above and spent a pile of his own time digitizing the originals and providing suggestions on how to improve on the original setup. Had him build a custom waterneck for it while he was at it too. I can't disclose just how little he charged me but is was waaaaay more than fair! If you need anything not just BBF stuff give him a try, super guy! Stop in at the KFM motor sports booth at PRI and say hi.

Re: BBF swap
A true testament to Keith's skill, mocked up the plates in the car today. Remember this car is 1500+ miles away and Keith has never even seen the car. Set the engine and trans down on the rails and the trans coupler slid right in like butter, zero modification or fit work needed. Â The coupler alignment is actually better than the original combo, pretty sweet.

Re: BBF swap
Although I don't count my buddies in Canada as being in a foreign country, I feel their pain when it come to needing parts.
This project was intense...due to the distance from the KFM shop. I wanted to make SURE that this setup would fit.
It was great using my "new" Canadianmade in-house CNC machine to digitize the Chevy plates. I usually have to drive 40 miles to use the Engine Systems BIG CNC machine, Millie.
Hearing that the alignment hit dead-on perfect was a treat!
This is the stuff that I do.
Thanks for the nice comments.

Re: BBF swap
Making some progress, ended up completely re-wiring the car, added Racepak, Kr led dial boards, new delay box, and air system. Updated the look with some downswept headers and new scoop too. Everything is just mocked up, off to the dyno in two weeks.

I like the back up camera. I've thought about that myself. I can use my phone and GoPro, but need to have it on a swivel to see behind me.
