There is a filter which is only about 2 1/2" tall but, I can't remember the application it is originally for.

....or use the Ford Racing adaptor. It allows you to clock your filter in any direction.

Re: short oil filter
I have the ford adapter and it hits the motor plate. The remote adapter I don't trust after my other car developed leaks. I would prefer Randy's solution if I could get a part number

Re: short oil filter
I know that it probably sounds "oddball", but I used a NAPA filter for a Renault Lecar (spelling?) with good results. Used on a 351 Cleveland in a Model A chassis, needed a super short filter to clear the steering shaft, it worked perfectly - sorry, I don't have a number for it. Maybe NAPA still has a listing.

So, you didn't need the SUPER short filter after all.
It's good that you got your problem solved. Now others also know that a SUPER short one does exist.

Re: short oil filter
The jomar filter is 5 1/4 tall the FL300 is 3 1/2 with the ford adapter i get the clearance I need from the motor plate. A filter @ 2 1/2 inches would let me omit the ford adapter but Napa wasn't a lot of help finding the really short one.
