Newbie to BBF's.. What's it going to make?
Alright guys first off thanks for the add.. A lot of really nice engines on here!
Well here's my combo,
557"
4.150 stroke
4.6250 bore
Manley 6.800 rod
Gibtec pistons 15.7:1
Straub tech camshaft .450 .430 271 283 @.050 109lsa 105cl
New trick flow 340cc heads with bowls opened up, valve job and chambers blended to match the bore
A460 dominator intake with 4150 adapter
Braswell 4825 carb
Motor is for a carb limited 1/4 drag class

I would guess 900 something ... but, that will depend upon a lot of other things.

I think the 4150 adapter is going to hold you back some. Is it a rules deal?

The Braswell 4825 carb has a lot of extra circuits so, it will operate well on smaller engines at just about any throttle opening. I don't think it will be of much or any extra power value on a large engine at wide open throttle.
Re: Newbie to BBF's.. What's it going to make?
OK I did not know that, I was thinking more of a conventional Holley. His deal reminds me of the old 327 crank in a 400 block, seems like it should rpm well but, I probably should not open that debate.

Class is also cubic inch limited 565 on a big block.. The dominator flange is a clover leaf, I had my adapter welded up so it goes from 4150 into a nicely blended clover leaf

Cams all wrong and putting a 4150 on it you may as well be running a standard head.
My guess is in the 900 range

What would be the purpose of running a standard head?
And
What would you recommend for a cam?

What rpm peak power did you specify to Straub when selecting the camshaft?

Your killing the potential head flow and power potential putting a dinky carb on it, it will make better torque and response with the smaller heads and induction system.

Carb flows around 1100cfm.. There should be enough plenum volume to keep it happy at 7500+
1.8 rockers

.810/.774 lift. I like it and I think it should make good power. What did the heads flow?

The camshaft is very tiny for a 7500+ rpm target and 557 cubic inches.
Are you trying to make maximum torque at a lower rpm or maximum power at 7500+ rpm?
What are the goals?

Probably more like 6,800-7,200, maybe.Strokedhatch wrote:Carb flows around 1100cfm.. There should be enough plenum volume to keep it happy at 7500+

That's alot of ass on the bottom end with the combo you have gave for a 28x9 tire... that short stroke big bore needs a good cam... your killing the power for a small tire the wrong way if you ask me.

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1702346 Little tires are surprising now days. It would be nice if he could loose a little weight on his car but, it should go good if it hooks.

The 109Lsa 105CL does seem odd for a small tire, I would think it would have a lot of bottom end and be very short power band?

It's not 100% right but Wallace says you'll need 1070hp to go 8.50 at 3300# assuming everything is on its game.
I'm pessimistic about the combo you have outlined making that kind of power...... And adding the small tire to it even makes it more difficult to get the ET

I'm looking at an overall goal.. I not it won't go that first time out.. Yea the cam might not work perfectly off the rip.... That's why you put in the time To collect data and build a relationship with your cam guy.. Goes the same with convertor guy to really....
Might end up switching carbs to a lil bo.. Going to see what the braswell does first

You will not make more power above 7,500 RPM with the runner length of that intake manifold; (although it may go along for the ride at that high RPM) ... cam seems about 6 to 8 degrees to small but, it does now match those longer intake runners; (and create a lower RPM peak).
Spend the money and use the BIG Braswell 4150 legal 4825 with the larger bores and air-horn.
Good Luck ...!

That manifold is going to peak hp a 7300 or below. Don't care what you put under it.
