96 mustang 20160221_204507_zpsoaxvdioa1996 mustang. Built the chassis with a Jegs kit. Four link , funny car cage, and strange strut . Now looking for info on where to start on how to hang the body. Car has stock roof clip and a fiber for clip. Still have the rockers on body. Should I just weld the them to the tubing ends at the four corners of floor?  Have a body mounting kit from mcamis. Pics would be a great help.

Generally you would weld some tabs or outriggers from the chassis and the body will mount to those.

Go search around yellowbullet too. Good pics in that chassis section of what you're looking to do. Typically guys will weld some horizontal tabs off the bottom of the tubes facing outwards and then the body will sit on there, even bolt. Makes pulling the body down the road easier too...

Give me a couple of days and I'll take some pics of how the body is mounted on my 98. Chassis guy did a pretty slick job!

I welded some tabs on the chassis and rocker panel to bolt it on with 1/4" bolts. Front corner at rocker,at the dash/ windshield, lower rear rocker panel in front of the rear tires, midway up the main hoop at the door/quarter window mounted to the door striker post. I also put one on each side at the top of the hoop to the top of the quarter glass opening. I think I even mounted the rear in front of the deck lid to the down bars. The more the better IMO. Cool

Liking the tab idea. I assume i would still have to brace the rear off the quarters. And would the top off the main hoop to the body have to be braced? Thanks for the pic Bigdave, your car is what I want it to look like. The old quality care mustang that never was.

You can look at some of the pics I put in this build. If you do all the tin in the rear like I did it'll tie the quarters in good. The end of the frame rails are also bolted to the rear tail panel.

If it's an 8.50 & slower full chassis car/cert, or a faster SFI 25.1, 25.2, or 25.4 full chassis cert, you can mount the body pretty much anyway you want (small bolts & tabs, or Dzus buttons & tabs, or weld, or etc, etc) since the body doesn't have to be welded to the chassis in this situation because it's no longer a structural part of the car anymore.

On the other hand if it is a full chassis car that still has all the extra inner body structure still intact, you might want to think about welding the body to the chassis anyway because of the extra weigh the remaining inner structure adds to the body.

But if the outer body shell is real light & all it's inner structure has been cut out (and if the cage fits real tight to the outer body shell) then just small bolt/tab it, or Dzus/tab it to the chassis.
