At my weight and hp and I missing something I feel like you guys are expecting more et out of her. I just thought at weight and hp it was at were it wasnt going to go any faster

Actually, I believe that it runs very well. I was surprised that the engine planed as early in the run as it did.
Increase the total timing by 4 degrees and see if "stanger 68" is on to something.

I agree there is something happening once in high gear. Could be converter issue? Not sure

If one looks at the Wallace Racing 1/4 mile calculator it shows something interesting.
9.77 et @ 2900 lbs shows 615 hp.
132 mph @ 2900 lbs shows 514 hp.

There certainly is something holding back the mph past half track.
Not sure if it is fuel related or timing or converter issue.

I am sure you will get it figured out

Looking at your 1/8 mile times.

Using eighth mile calculator:

2900 lbs and 650 hp
Shows 6.04 @ 113 mph.

You are very close to running what it should at the eighth mile mark.
Something happens during the last eighth mile - as you can hear and probably feel (video shows this too)

Running 10.00 index and 10.50 have to slow up

If I make any all out passes or try to gain pb times I will look into it more right now today car was very consistent on tree and 10.50 mark

Converter is a BTE , maybe the converter is holding back
I know it feels great out of the hole all the way to 1/2 track and planes out . I'm also new to this being a new car and coming from street cars . So it's all a learning curve but I'm having fun and should be competitive in 10.50 index

yesterday testing for 10.50 index

on a .400 pro tree

went .023 on tree with a 10.496
went .033 on tree with a 10.51


another thing to add is im launching at 4300 rpm with transbrake/2 step my convertor flashes 5100-5200 rpm

it maybe gearing , my peak hp on dyno is at 6300 rpm i would have to see were i am on the track but i feel by the 1/8th mile im already up there rpm wise and in 2nd gear (glide)

The gear ratio could certainly be the issue! I didn't realize you had a 4.10 gear (just re-read thread)
The BTE converter is likely not the issue. (Looks like many like BTE converters and transmissions)
Not sure what camshaft specs are, but some cam specs may not carry much beyond peak HP. In your case 6300 ish.
Perhaps valve float issues above 6500 rpm?

First, I would verify that the fuel delivery system is delivering enough volume of fuel to the carb and the carb isn't running on what is in the fuel bowl.  A restricted needle & seat or one to small can show the same thing.

Block-off the scoop entry to be sure that air going near the carb is not upsetting the fuel calibrations.

I honestly think I have a little more gear than I need but
I'm no pro and not ruling out anything for index racing and slowing the car up it's working

Running all out maybe I'm leaving some , but if you watch on car video shift light flashes at 6200 rpm I click 2nd gear not far into the run .

Fuel VOLUME at the jet is not measured in PSI at the fuel log.  It is probably OK but, I would do a volume check to be sure.

Using .130" needle & seats are about right to be sure the fuel bowls remain full on that carb..

is first points race in 10.50 index as the first one was rained out

was #4 qualifier , had 14-16 mph head wind as well

went .025 on tree and .019 in qualifying ...this is on a .400 pro tree

first round went .005 red !!!! and went 10.493 !!! im usually .020 to .030 on tree not sure if i bumped in a little more

13lbs in rear NOT stiff walls looks like it slightly bounces

strange singles up front set at 6 from full loose , its hooking and working but looks like it may bounce slightly .
Any input should i go up in air or loosen front any ?

Hard to tell from that video. It was shot from too far away and the sun was throwing the shadows to that side so it's hard to see what the sidewall is doing. So can't really tell if it was bouncing off the sidewalls, or bouncing off the springs/shocks. Also can't really see/tell if it's "squatting" because of rear suspension squat, or because of a ton of sidewall dead-hook/wind-up.

I guess you could try more air pressure to get an idea if it's bouncing on the sidewalls. Or tighten up the rear shock compression and/or extension valving to get an idea if it's bouncing on the rear suspension.

Of course don't go too far adjusting and induce a bunch of wheel-speed that can mask what direction the changes might be heading.

Did not use that Comp 294B8 yet I got from you, going more street now and a hyd. flat tappet I have, hopefully, in the future of hopefully cheaper gas prices, fingers crossed.

Did you have another engine build thread in here somewhere? I guess the dyno sheets got lost somehow, I can't find them anywhere in all of the threads so for?

Not yet changed springs and trying to squeek out year 5 out of it , done leak down and still looks good and we have roughly 330 passes on the engine . This fall October i plan to pull it and have it gone through

Keep your lifters in order and keep on running it if all is good there.

Winning consistent combo's like yours are hard to get I would not change anything that does not need freshining myself.

Can't make this up I went to test tonight , did my burn out in box pulled it forward as tires grabbed I lost trans or something in lower end . It rolls in neutral but I can't crank motor over . No oil or hole in block but it's solid I can't turn it over with bar on crank . Starter won't move it ......it's been a great combo buy the part of pulling it all for refresh is just going to be early

If I was a betting man it's the trans but not sure yet

It sounded like I heard it crank, after you stalled it? Sounded like a weak/dead battery.

Can you pull the oil pan in the car? The part about not turning with the bar does not sound good. Maybe spun bearing?

Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

It could always be worse. Look what happened to us and racing.
