7.3 IDI Experts/Owners Help
Can't get fuel out of the injectors, suspect air in system. Usually does this after setting but, is being cranker then usual. Any tips. Electric up pump working, bleed filter schrader air release still gitting some air out, and cracked open a injectors, no fuel coming out yet. Letting battery charge backup now with block heater plugged in. Old fuel with stabilizer looks OK. Any body tried the WD40 and rag trick?

I've owned a few 7.3's and what I always did was crack the injectors and use starting fluid and once you get it started I would let it run until all the air is out then lock down injector nuts

It looks like it may come down to that, I hate doing that on a diesel though, seems like it would be hard on the rods. Thanks for the reply.

I have just poured diesel down the intake and start them like that but if it's being a pain and you use starting fluid be easy with it sounds like you've did it that way before

You need to bleed fuel filter til no more air comes out,
then loosen injector lines til fuel comes out of all of them.
tighten a few of them up while cranking and it should start hitting on those cylinders.
Usually leak in the return side of the fuel system will let fuel drain out and make it hard to start after sitting awhile.
plastic caps on top of injector nozzles are a common leak.
Check your glowplugs with a testlight, unhook wire lead to glowplug, hook one end of your testlight to POS post of batt, touch other end testlight to glowplug,
and should light up on the good ones, if they are open they are bad.
