Just Noticed This

On the cylinder I dropped the valve. None of the pieces got past the rings and they were undamaged. Vaguely remember this defect from 1995 when the engine was first built. Scared the hell out of me when I noticed it again as I was wiping the cylinder down to install the new piston.

It looks like a casting flaw or maybe a few dents left over from something that happened in a previous life for the engine. It is well below ring travel so I don't think it'll hurt a thing.
