speed sensor
My 92 f250 diesel transmission is acting up. Keeps wanting to take off at a stop as if the tork converter is ingagging. The odometer flashes back and forth from error to the km and overdrive light flashes when you come to a stop. Could the speed sensor couse this or is the tork converter gone?
Thanks
Thanks

Could be the speed sensor and most likely is, but it is best to check fluid level , and condition first. Then I would check codes or have them read, then cleared drive and see if the code or codes reset. Check Battery (2)condition , alternator out put. and fuses . That should get you started in the right direction. Good luck

Re: speed sensor
I'll do that thanks. In my mind I thought the tork would be machanical only didn't see how the transmission or speed sensor would tell it to engage. I hate computer crap I'm going to swap it to a 5 speed eventually was hoping I could get the summer out of it.
Re: speed sensor
Found the same truck 8ft box extended cab but 89. Was hoping to use transmission and driveshafts. Anyone see a problem with that? I already have a pedal assembly and steering callam from a 94 f150
Re: speed sensor
Should be no problem if the donor truck is a diesel

Re: speed sensor
I unpuged the right side harnes on transmission just so I can keep driving... Did this before but never lost first gear. What wire is the tork triger? Thought maybe I could cutt it and plug it back in for now
Re: speed sensor
I lost my overdrive and if I unhook the batteries for 30 minutes I seem to get it back untill it drops ones theb back to 3rd... Any ideas?

Range sensor on driver side of transmission . Lot of people call it the back light switch and or neutral safety switch. .
Did you ever get the coeds read ? If not you should and if you did what were they ? solenoid pack maybe in question as well ?

Re: speed sensor
I'll try the neutral safety switch I assumed it was just for starting and back up lights... I had codes read and cleared. They were transmission codes but not sure what but they came right back and wouldn't let buddy try to clear them again. Some times it won't shift out of second so I let of the throttle and shift to neutral and back to drive and get 3rd again if that give hint of what it might be. I thinck I found a 5 speed at a transmission shop that someone had fixed and never came back for but there's no flywheel or anything
Re: speed sensor
Pull the codes and write them down so you can post them here before you have them cleared. It's impossible to tell you what's wrong with no information.

Re: speed sensor
Anyone know the length difference between the 5speed and e4od transmission? I found a 5speed for my diesel just wondering about the driveshaft difference. Hoping if there not the same witch I dont count on it being it would be nice if I just had to have the one I have now shortend.
