65 Falcon Mini Tub Rear End Length
Doing a minitub on a 65 Falcon to the frame rail. Anyone have any idea how wide the rear end housing should be (approx) for this application?
Just wondering in case I run across a good deal for a used one without dishing the money for a brand new one. I'm always lookin
Thanks!

The factory width on a falcon is 52" flange to flange. Meaning flange that the backing plates bolts to. I have mini tub Mustangs and Mavericks, they both are the same width as a falcon. I narrowed the rear ends 1" per side 50" over all flange to flange. I redid the rear frame rail (still in factory location, straighting it out) this will give room to use a 10" wheel with center offset. I gave this same info to local guy wanting to mini tub a 64 Falcon, turned out great.

Nice info, thanks man. How big of a tire were you able to fit? I know a Falcon is a bit more restrictive in this area due to the outer wheel well hanging lower than a Mustang. I know a 275/60 will fit, but I'd maybe like a bit bigger if possible. May notch the frame rail, as well.

When I measured up my 64 I don't see why you couldn't fit at least a 315/325 tire in there after you straighten out the rail.

Re: 65 Falcon Mini Tub Rear End Length
I haven't done it yet. I have a Griggs racing torque arm setup for it and just haven't got around to it. I need to finish a little more bracing in the front part of the car because I moved the firewall back 1 inch and smoothed it out. The biggest problem with the Falcon is that the stock frame rail tapers to the outside of the car about midway in the wheel well. At the front there is plenty of room and there is nothing left by the time you get to the rear of the wheel well opening. I actually bought a set of frame rails from Autoweld and was planning on using that and tying it into the factory floor. When I installed my subframe connectors I placed it next to the factory frame, then when I install the rear rails it will allow me plenty of room. Below is a few pics.

Re: 65 Falcon Mini Tub Rear End Length
This is an old post but I did not see there was a question posted so I thought I would just answer.
I went with a 315/35-17.
BTW, to the OP,
Here is a pic of the stock rear rail with the 315/35-17. The wheel is touching the outer fender in this position (basically wedged in).
