where's the 1100+ hp A460 builds?
I was looking around to see if I can find anyone making 1100+ hp with an A460 headed 588 limited bbf. I know they're out there.

I'd ask Lem or Phillip about this one.

Mine is a 605. It made 1038 with old 10 bolt heads and a nos cam. Also dynoed it with alky. It shows more horse Power on gas the first time. I know this isn't what you asked for. I'm like you I mow they are out there.

Neither are 588" but not far from it.
https://www.429-460.com/t12051p250-mike-stevens-build
https://www.429-460.com/t16558-keith-fulp-s-618-a-head-interceptor
The latter build (Kieth Fulp's) almost hit 1200 with a single carb tunnel ram.
There are several builds on the site in the 1030 - 1050 range that aren't really close to "max effort", no vacuum pumps, 2.4 valve or less, moderate RPM, wet sump deals. Most here aren't grudge or even x275 or Ultra racers so don't really build those specific class of high dollar engines.
And of course you're aware of Lester Comb's 64 Fairlane he races in Ultra with A460 heads, definitely making at least (well over?) 1100.

Re: where's the 1100+ hp A460 builds?
My 598 made 1069 and 920 ft lbs on the dyno. I'm pretty sure it's over 1100 now with on track tuning. With the dyno tune on it (too rich on alky injection) it ran 127.5 mph in the 1/8. With tuning on both injection and timing it now runs 131.5-.6. I'd say that should be well over 30 hp in a 2960 lb car.
Re: where's the 1100+ hp A460 builds?
I assume he's asking for 588" specifically because of class limitations (X275). There are a few but all of the ones that I've seen "appear" to have an A Head but underneath the valve covers tells a different story. Nothing A head left. But maybe I'm not looking at the right combos??
IMO north of 1100hp NA, but has N20 specs (cam, chambers, exhaust port conf, etc), with an A head is gonna be tough.

I assumed the same. Put a set of them Keith Fulp Motorsports Interceptor A's on a 588" and spin it up and I don't think they're would be any issue. I'm sure Uncle Charlie and Mr. Oakley could make some magic happen, as well, if one were to desire to build to that class spec. Only takes $$$ and planning, so I hear.

We have a limited class down here that is restricted on nitrous that I've built motors for. We are not allowed as much nitrous as X and according to some pretty good builders in the industry some of these motors are making more engine power than the X guys. Just knowing the architecture of the 385 serious I'm having a hard time understanding how it can't be up there easily.
That's why I asked about the cam in a Proven Builds section build. It had close to the same durations and grind angle as what we run but over .100 less lift.

Phillip is doing a 540" A460 style pulling engine that is more of a 'take no prisoners' deal than a typical fast bracket race engine. I suspect it'll be done sometime this week....I'll report went it comes off the dyno.

Impressive! Low rpm for that cubic inch, too.

The cast 1 X 4 intake manifold is not going to peak real high regardless of whether the engine is 540" or 598".

Is he limited to a cast 1x4 intake?

I'm not sure but, most of the rules that I am aware of require a cast 1x4.
