Any update on the lifter issue? After years of chevy's I am interested in building a Boss engine for my car that will get a lot of street miles, probably including drag week.

you wont have any major issues if you run high quality parts.the problem the OP had is the aftermarket block has an interferance with the lifter tie bars as they are no longer detachable.use the crower lifters,they are good quality and can be bought with the bushings instead if needle bearing.

Doesn't matter what lifter you use,builder needs to check clearance under z-bar,or link bar, I just did an svo block wedge same problem,bar hit just before full lift,have seen this on all after market blocks with different brand lifters. factory blocks not a prob
