Park won't work in a lot of glide valve bodies out there. Without changing the valve body the best thing to do is to not use park. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

shifter mechanism needs attention. Is there a hole closer to the centerline on the arm at the trans?

disconnect shifter cable.... if it stays in park then... you have a shifter linkage problem. if not then you have something wrong inside the tranny.

Educate me... what would the valve body have to do with putting a 'Glide in Park?  Is it not like a C4/C6 or any other trans that has a pawl & gear for Park?  Question scratch

What do you think the shafts are attached to? My parks work also but with a lot of the new billet or the really old style built from stock castings the travel changed from stock in the mechanism.

Also, a lot of the shifters are designed by apparently by some nut job. About half the hurst shifters now need s little attention to work park and have perfect adjustment in the other gears. The biondo, pro b&m and precision shifters seem to be perfect.

I am well aware what the shafts are attached to.. the question is what does the valve body have to do with Park not engaging??  Is there travel differences in the manual valve (I believe that's one name for it), or is the issue in the (external to valvebody) mechanism as you say?  Again, just trying to educate myself (and help any/all others) is all.

i wasnt trying to be a smart butt. Yes, most manufacturers change the travel difference slightly because the factory throw is actually too long. It is hard to fix the geometry and keep the current shifters happy as they were made for the long throw mechanisms. This is how it was explained to me by both of my shifter companies as well as the three different valve body people we use. Most of those issues are resolved now but some companies still have old stock. The newer shifters like the PPP, Biondo, new hurst, new b&m have all made it were it doesn't matter as the throw in the transmission. They made 1 and 2 work perfect and park and neutral work.

It used to be very common for park not to work. The transmission would sound like it would go in to park but if you pushed the car it would snap out of gear internally and move. Most people thought their parks worked at the time.

I have another question about this trans park issue. Ok for sure park want hold. And the car kinda wants to go forward when I rev on it while it's in park. What's going on with it?
Thanks

Im sure hoping it was the cable out of adjustment. I'll know for sure tomorrow. If it's all good, I can apologize to Mike for questioning him. Man this sport, game entertainment or whatever ya want a call it will sometimes make ya question whether a tire is round.
If this thing works I'm fixing to buy a sledgehammer kit and progressive to strap on it

They will lurch when reved in d or n, but should not drag the car.

There is no real nuetral in a glide like a 3 speed, planets always spinning when the inputs turning.
