Marine 460 Camshaft/Ford Racing M-6250-A460

Looking for a new or nice usable used M-6250-A460 cam. Was sold as the marine 460 cam as well.

Thanks dfree, you are correct. I found an Elgin but the specs were a little different than the original A460 cam that is listed in my 2003 FRPP catalogue.
The lift and .050 duration figures are pretty much identical but the advertised duration is a lot more on the Elgin and the exhaust lobe centerline is 114 on the Elgin as opposed to the A460 at 120.
I'm hoping someone may have an original sitting on the shelf collecting dust they would like to get rid of.

Are you using it in a boat? If it's a car the CL on the Elgin is probably better.

Try Delta Cams in Tacoma too, they can grind it up for you.

It's going in a 545 that's destined for my '74 Cougar.

It's going to be a very small cam in that engine, probably be weezing by 4500-5000.

Have you talked with Lem or Randy about having a cam ground up custom for it?

That's what I thought but Randy assured me it wouldn't be too small given the parameters I have set--smooth or close to it idle, stock torque convertor etc.
Even with those limitations, I figured a 545 could take at least 15-18 degrees more intake duration with the stock convertor. The idle may not be "smooth" but I'm okay with a little lumpity-lump.

I haven't spoken with either one about a custom grind--yet.

Those seem as scarce as the C-460's it seems. Found an New A443 if anyone is after one of them.

That's a better cam IMO for the big inches

I had that cam on my watch list on ebay--I bought it.
Don't know if it will go into the 545 but it's a decent cam to put in something! lol.

I'm with Defree, in a 545 I think it would be pretty nice too. Grab me a C460 cam if you see one or let me know.

You sure California is going to allow all them cubes, I left there 25 years ago and they were already becoming a pain in the...well you know....

Well, '74 and older doesn't need to be smogged so the cubes shouldn't be a problem.

That's cool, I know when I left it didn't have to be smog checked if it was over 20 years old. Obviously they changed that law

They are the SAME camshaft grinds; just like the original Ford Marine D3JE-6250-AA camshaft.

We all know this but, since I bumped the thread just wanted to be clear about it.

114.5 LSA with a 109 ICL. Numbers match to a T on valve events in the cam program of the A460 events. What I am trying to say is the 109 and 120 work out the same as the 114.5 when it is advanced 5.5 degrees in the program and jives. It's the same cam, likely just stuck in an SVO Box.  

Enough about all the cam talk, how bad is it to get New High Performance BBF stuff now?

And the Prices now since 2021, it's nuts.
