Hi guys new to the forum need some help. I have a 69 mustang GT with a C6 in it and currently a 390. It is my project car and need to start with the transmission. Not sure if I'm going to put a 460 in or keep the 390 but definitely going twin turbo build. So need to build the tranny accordingly. Going to be mostly streeet seeing occasional track usage. Full weight car hopefully pushing 1000 hp

In the reality of things I would keep it a 390 GT and enjoy it on the street. The value that will be taken away with a 1000hp 385 motor and the cost doesn't make since to me. Now if you want to go drag racing there a lot of good rollers to start with and save a lot of money. We have all wasted a ton of money on the wrong car before

The engine plans need to be made now,390 bell won't fit a 460. Suspect

I vote for a Warmed up 390 and enjoy the Mustang. !000 hp forces you to change everything, reared, trans, motor, and then you need to make room for the big tires to support the HP.
Put that money in body/paint/wheels with A/C and find a race Car.

I was hoping the bell was the same guess not.....anybody do a 390 turbo on here? It has the C6 and 9 inch rear end was hoping to push it for some good HP.

No definitely not the same , you get the FE bell, 429/460 385 series or small block are your choices . Internals can be swapped between cases

If it is an original 390 GT, I will keep it that way and just perk it up. You don't see that many original 390 GTs. If not go with the 460 & C-6 cheers

I agree. A 390 in a 69 model year Mustang is a rather uncommon thing. Most folks opted for the 428 in Mach 1 trim, so a GT version is more rare when you are looking at production numbers.
If its matching numbers, it would be foolish to cut it all up to turn it into a different beast.
