Where to locate MECHANICAL temp sender?
Can't figure out where to mount my mechanical temp sender? The prong from the temp sender seems to be too long for the intake or thermostat housing.
Where are you guys positioning yours?

I've always installed them in the thermostat housing. They come with a special fitting that goes from male pipe to what type thread the sender uses, and that gives you another 1/2" or so extra depth.

Greg's advice is easiest.
If you ever find yourself in a pinch, you can install it into a T in the heater core line. Routed downward and toward the back of the engine, it will not be seen.
I've had to do this on FE intakes that have very few coolant ports.
