Head studs - for a mild build.
Building a mild 429 motor for truck with Mildly upgraded heads.
I would like to use studs rather than bolts.
I see that Speedmaster has them for $79.
ARP has them for $209.
Any thoughts? Any experience with the Speedmaster ones? Will not be racing this motor.

SpeedMaster is ProComp.
It is absolute JUNK from China.
I personally would not use them for fear that they will snap while attempting to torque the heads down.
Pay the extra $$ and get the real deal....ARP.

ARP if youre hell bent on studs.
Factory bolts are more than adequate in your application.
Do yourself a favor, never use a procomp or speedmaster part in anything that's critical because their reputation is horrible for poor quality.

13.5:1 compression and 825hp using factory head bolts.
IMO spend your money elsewhere...

Ok!
Got the point. Thank you for all your experience - that is what I need.
I'll go with the bolts.
Thanx

Re: Head studs - for a mild build.
Studs are nice on the engine stand, but I learned...if you have a tight engine bay (and most street machines with a BBF do.) you can't pull the heads unless the studs come out...or the engine does.
