Rear gear ratio selection
I am mini tubbing my 56 Ford 2dr sedan. At some point I will be ordering a new third member but I really have no idea what to do on the gear ratio. This is a street car but I do plan on doing some Friday night test & tune passes.
This car should weigh about 3600 lbs with my fat butt in it. Motor is a 460, ported TFS Powerports, solid roller of unknown origin, TFS street heat intake converted to efi, Holley HPefi (this is Wards old engine so maybe he can comment on approximate power). The transmission is a Lentech AOD with unknown stall. For tires I have some 325/50-15 drag radials which are 28" tall IIRC.
I usually think 3.73's are a good all around good gear but really have no experience with the taller 28" tire and overdrive. Everything I ever owned had 26" tall tires in the rear. Would 4:10's be a tire fryer with big block torque?
Suggestions please.

Did you consider a 3.90? I would lean towards the 4.10 with the AOD and a 28" tire myself.

Actually I didn't even think of the 3.90's.
