600 CFM carb OK?
I'm a total newbie, and going slow in an effort to get it right (and will probably still get some things wrong). So, have a '71 TJ that's going into a '74 F250 4x4. Mostly for hunting/camping, but occasionally around town and perhaps tow a travel trailer or another vehicle. Any reason to need more than a 600 CFM carb on this? Thanks. Vic

a 600cfm will work fine for your needs. I have a 79 f350 sc long bed 2wd cammed with dove c heads I have a 750 on it now but I had a 600 on it.... It had plenty of power. Pull 13k on the 42 foot gooseneck I had more than a few times and didn't bother it. Gets 11mpg with 4.10 gears.... My only concern with the tj is they are high compression engines. You might want to consider getting a set of d3 heads to lower the compression and have hardened exhaust seats... Just a thoughtCazador wrote:I'm a total newbie, and going slow in an effort to get it right (and will probably still get some things wrong). So, have a '71 TJ that's going into a '74 F250 4x4. Ignore that last reply. I got a txt with an offer to buy a pickup bed I’m selling and that was my reply. How I managed to make it on this forum is beyond my comprehension; but not my capacity to make ridiculous mistakes!
