If you are running Boss 9 z-bar solid roller lifters in an Eliminator
block - LISTEN UP!!! While freshening up my Boss 600 this
winter I replaced the z-bar solid roller lifters. I got new ones
from Kaase. After I had all the pistons & rods installed I
discovered the new roller lifters z-bar (tie bar) ISNT
detachable anymore, and they wont go in the block tied
together as they hit the unused inner head bolt boss on
the Eliminator block. ARRRGGGG!

I called Kaase, and they were aware of the problem. They
said to grind the bolt boss back for clearance until the z-bar
clears. NICE to do on a clean & assembled block! So
thought I'd call Crower and just get my old lifters rebuilt?
Crower Tech informed me they NO LONGER use the
detachable z-bars and if they rebuilt my old lifters they
would be converted to non-detachable ones like Kaases.
BUMMER!

So after many hours of bagging, taping, vacuuming,
trial & fitting & grinding surgery, it became obvious that
over half the boss had to be ground off on the inside!
Which makes it totally unusable in the future anyway,
so you might as well just cut it off and have less debris
generated.

So if you have an Eliminator block and old detachable
z-bar roller lifters BE AWARE! Cut the inner bolt bosses
off BEFORE any engine assembly!!!

Yes, both Kaase & Crower said the detachable tie bars
had reliability issues. I personally havent seen any
issues. I've been running the Boss motor since 2010.
I replaced the lifters once already at 200 passes as
routine maintenance. Same reason I changed them
now.
