Mod Motor Trans Adapter
Does anyone sell an adapter to use a Mod Motor pattern trans behind a 460? I want an Overdrive transmission in my 63 Galaxie but the trans tunnel is too small to use an E4OD. Pretty sure a late model 4R70W will fit and the mod motor pattern is more readily available.

Thanks, but Bendtsen's doesn't make an adapter for a Modular-pattern transmission on a 460.

Why not us an AOD and put the 4r70w guts in it? They make bellhousings for that.

Thanks. I have considered that. Just not sure which way to go yet. Using a 6R80 would be cool, but Mod Motor pattern only. Also considering taking the built E4OD I have and moving all of the guts into a smallblock case with an adapter.
Just trying to see what's out there. It may even be easier to cut out and rebuild the tunnel. I know I am capable of doing that.

You could do a C4/C6 and do a Gear vendors. It would probably have similar cost in the end because AOD's are so expensive and C4/C6's are not.

Does your car have a console? The 6R80's are huge.

No console. Just bucket seats I swapped in from a 63 XL.

I will probably just keep the C6 in it for now.

A 4r70w from a 4.2l v6 (truck or van) will have the SBF bellhousing pattern. So you should be able to use the AOD adapter to mate it to a 460. I have used the v6 4r70w trans behind a SBF, never used the adapter though.

Re: Mod Motor Trans Adapter
problem with gear vendors is you still have converter slippage on the hiway with the modern trans you have a lock up converter .
