New to 460, engine overheating.
I picked up a 64 Galaxie with a 460 and C6 the previous owner had installed. For tha last few years, the car has been near the coast where the weather is much cooler and altitude in 3500 ft lower than here in the Desert where I live in SoCal. The car is now overheating at an idle. I changed out the thermostat yesterday to a 180°, mainly because that was the only one available. The previous one was sticking a bit. It does not over heat while moving.
The particulars. Stock 460 block, they say head work has been done, but a quick check in the intake ports show no port work. Roller rocker conversion from Comp, Comp Motha Thumper cam, Holly 950 DP carb on Wieand mid rise manifold. Itty bitty engine driven fan, 14" or so electric pusher fan, too. Three core radiator, I believe.
The car had two collapsed lifters when I bought it, swapped out all the hyd lifters and have it hitting on all 8 again. This is when the over heating started.
Now, do I swap the radiator for a 4-core? Go with a larger or dual puller fan with a better shroud? Is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance!

Need to give it a tune and adjust for the altitude first

It looks like there is a high RPM / high flow aluminum water pump on it.
Turn that water pump & fan faster or get a "Flow Kooler" water pump which will work as well at lower RPM.

Good Catch, I will look into that!
I tuned the idle per Holley directions, set the timing per previous notes left with the car(14° and overall 30° if I remember right. Got rid of the Iridium plugs. I have not played with jetting yet, because, well... I am clueless, and the first rule is 'Do no harm'.
