Early fms a460 head?
Best I can find early a460 heads came bare with no valves. Does anybody have any info on the intake/exhaust runner cc as cast? Maybe some port/bowl measurements? I have and early set I'm working on that are not impressive on the flow bench and just trying to get some basic info on them.

I believe they are cast as 340 cc intake runners

The current TFS 340cc head's intake runners are bigger than the Ford A460 heads.

I will do some measuring this weekend on these heads. Just haven't seen many for comparison on what has been done to them. They still have a 2.3 valve in them.

YES ... The FMS heads have considerably smaller cross sectional area in the intake ports than the later TFS heads have.

Yep, the old heads didn't flow well as delivered.

Do you have any idea what the average/min cross section is as cast? I am going to try to get time this weekend to measure up everything. Thanks for the help!!

Re: Early fms a460 head?
I don’t know the cross section on them but my first set of A heads were small in comparison to the tfs I got a few years ago. I had done quite a bit of porting on them but stayed off the short turn. It didn’t run all that good and didn’t respond to changes I made And later when I had I’d down I flowed one and as some here had guessed they sucked! Lol. 360cfm ! More bowl work and very little short turn got 425cfm with the 2.3 valves.

The early FMS A-460 heads respond well to a lot of help on the short side turn /radius.
