For replacement front covers that have 5/15 threaded holes at the ends anyone have a source where the stepped stud has 1/2" + longer 1/4 shank?

Thread those corner holes for a 1/4-20 heli-coil.

We have these 5/16-18 to 1/4-28 studs:

front oil pan stepped stud - longer Steppe10

front oil pan stepped stud - longer Steppe12

They are ~1.40" in overall length, and the 1/4-inch threaded section is 1.00" long.  They cannot be simply threaded in by hand and do require some effort via (for example) two nuts jammed together on the 1/4" section and then driven into the timing cover with oil and a ratchet, etc.

4 pieces $22 shipped, call directly to order

I did like Randy did and used two helicoils because I am using the factory load spreaders that are made for the 1/4" bolts.
