rod bearing clearance
i have some cb-743p rod bearing 2.200 bearing now i have measured my clearances several time i only have .0015 clearance should i put oversize +001 bearings in to get me to .0025 clearance
i did not build this engine originally and it was a eagle stroker kit my guess is original builder never checked them. but i would say that is a little tight with 15w40 oil . used to have 60psi oil when cold but would drop when warmed up . what you guys think
thanks

He put it together probably because he relied upon the supplier of the kit to provide the correct parts so everything would be right.
I would say that he didn't actually measure it.
This happens an awful lot with engine assemblers who know how to merely assemble. After all ... it will be within O.E.M. speck.

Re: rod bearing clearance
Rule of thumb is .001" clearance for every 1" of journal dia. 2.20 journal, shoot for .0022-.0023 clearance and no need for 40wt oil. I run 1K hp, 7500rpm BB Chev journals with .0022 clearance and std volume pumps, never an issue. More clearance is "safe" but not necessary unless you're using power adders.

To many builders around get lax on taking the time to measure stuff properly, can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “it feels good, so it good” and they never even picked up a mic or dial bore gauge cause they are in a hurry.
