A460 562”
After lots of procastination, pitfalls, and petience, it was nice to see this junk get loaded down and seat the rings. Honestly
I’m still surprised and even a little skeptical. But we’ll roll with what we’ve got.
Big thanks some that helped, hung around, or supplied me with parts and knowledge to learn just a bit more.
Amanda Toney, its for her truck anyhow.
Blake Cartwright, head porting, cam, lots of insight and advice.
Lem Evans pistons, gaskets, filters, badass oil pan & valvecovers, lots of misc parts, an another absolute wealth of knowledge and genuine fun to talk worh.
Guy Wagner, backup set of heads, insight, tuneup help. sharing info, constantly pushing me, and holding me accountable.
Pat & Jennifer Lafferty, lots of phone calls, bouncing ideas and sharing info, tuneup help, and keeping me on task.
Eric Niefert @ Horsepower Innovations for killer looking carb.
Adney Brown Performance Crankshaft Inc., balance work, crank work.
Brad @ BAM Perfomance Lifters, great products and excellent communication.
Tyler Stevenson West michigan performance, dyno time, tuning insight, being easy to work with.

NGK #7’s, later on #9s @ .020 gap
We found the need to take out a bunch of jet. Something I’ll watch when in real world use.
Pulls started mild, with 6200rpm, 87/103 jet, 28*. Vac pump unhooked. Showing AFR 10:1 range and blubbering badly. Plugs wanting timing and reading pig-fat.
83Xhp/73Xtq.
Moving forward, we tried 30,32 & 34*, various carb spacers, and leaning out jetting, getting the plugs happy and seeing 12.X AFR, even some colder plugs, and running the vacuum pump. Only 5” was made due to a china wall leak.
Once we had a handle on things, it seemed we had a player. Made six or seven pulls all in
99X/85X range. Trying spacers, moving timing, etc. This deal seemed happy here and was easily repeatable.
By lunchtime, we’d seen
999 @6800
855 @5800
After a break, we made four more pulls It was suggested to tighten exhaust lash and try one more. Dropping exhaust lash from .018 to .010 we were able to tick over the 1k mark.
1007hp @6800
855# @5800
Best power tuneup:
80/4.5PV primary & 92 secondary 7psi
1” open spacer
32*
.016/.010 lash
#9 plugs .020
After 12 pulls we went from 830/730 to
1000/850.
What a nice little Saturday.

Only if the box is filled with wood! I’m hoping to be a bit quicker than last time it was out 10 years ago. But its still a 5k# pig. But its my pig.Dave De wrote:Nice build with the greatest of the trade doing their thing to make an awesome finish. I just gotta know... Is that truck going to stand on its tail?
