now my issue I need to figure is my gearing i have a 4.10 and on a 28inch tire . Most likely going to a 3.73 gear but now i'm tempted to go 3.55 but maybe to much . I'm bracket racing so i don't have to be on kill all out but hopefully traction . Went 6800 before through traps at 133-135 mph at 9.70s
Try the 4.10's first and see how they do.
with my current 4.10s and 28 i would go through traps at 6800 so it needs to be dropped to 3.73 in my opinion just based on more power and mph i'm assuming
I'm going to make a new thread in the proven build section once i pick the motor up next week ( its 2 hours away from me ) . I don't want to have this in the engine tech section causing any issues .
if anyone wanted to know as I'm not familiar but it was dyno'd on a stuska dyno . Tom Boucher races as well in super stock for years and is well known in north east and won in 92 us nationals in super stock

That gear change would have been about 400 RPM at that time.
Good Job ...

510 ci
Edelbrock heads not port just matched to viktor intake
fordged crank from lunati
h beam rods
probe piston
compression at 13.1
electric water pump
vp 113 fuel
davinhci dominator
Kaase K1 solid roller cam
stefs pan with kaase pump
I just want to race again and want it to run great but Im guessing 700-715 Hp
4.42" Bore X 4.15 Stroke = 509.42 CID
Your 502 and this one are very similar. 12.6 or so, Comp. vs. 13. The Ported SVO Cobra Jets you have is the biggest difference I see. Plus that steal you made buying it.
Icon Makes a 6.8" Rod 502 piston is why I asked about the rod length.

Yes all new valves in heads have been all gone through and replaced , yeah I know the heads are the deciding factor but I'm index and bracket racing. The old combo went 9.70s and the car has a whole I didn't want to be in the high 8s bottom bottom 9s which if i went p51 heads or sr71s along those lines would have done . I'm hopeful for a 9.50 and I can back it down shift point so it is reliable . That's why I did the 510 vs bigger cubes as just didn't think was needed
I have a few spacers and have one on the motor already that can be tried .
This won't win any hp awards I get it .....I used the top end I had .
Do you have flow numbers on the heads ?
720 hp out of 510 cu. in is just 1.41 hp per cube. I SURE hope the ol' Blue Oval can do better than that? ......
I'm sure it will. Good luck with it.

I don't know if you have looked at the Wallace Gear Comparison Calculator but it's pretty handy, I think.
I used 1.065 for the final transmission drive ratio, to allow for torque convertor slip and because it lines up pretty close to your 132 MPH at 6,800 RPM ( 9.771@132.01MPH) from the Old Engine.
If you look at the 1,000 RPM and the 7,000 RPM numbers you will notice a 3.9 gear picks up about 7MPH and a 3.7 gear about 14MPH, over the 4.10's. At 1,000 RPM it's a 1 and 2 MPH difference/increase between the 3, and a proportional increase all the way up the scale. It's Just another way to look at it, to make it easier to see the difference in the change, I noticed.
Depending on what you do to the Torque Convertor, I think one of those will be pretty close.
At 2,950Lbs. and 760 HP it Calculates to 9.15ET and 147.63MPH
Like the Calculations from your last engine, I would knock around 30 or so HP off the top for more real world performance, with driveline losses, ect., and call it in the mid 140's.
The reason I said to try the 4.10's first, is it is always a good idea not to make too many changes at once, so you can see the affect better for the next change.

I'm going to try 3.73 and I'm sending my convertor to Ptc this week . It's going to be have tightened up a little kenny at ptc said when speaking to them

I'm also going to bring shift point back and launch rpm to get her to a happy spot . Bracket racing I don't need to be all out per say and would like to be in the 9.30 9.40 range
I need to make a thread in proven build section of the motor break down . It's a dove a block that I installed blu thunder caps on not sure if that wasn't mentioned

760 is more than I would've expected from the Edelbrock heads.

Made mistake on cam as I looked at cam card and when I started this thread the came card was at engine builders
Cam is a kaase k1 low lift
.731/.727 lift
109 separation
Duration at .050 272 and 280
If anyone wanted to know

It seems like Edel heads dont get a good reputation but they exceed their expectations most of the time. Makes you wonder what the numbers would be with SCJ's or P-51D's.
In any case your package is happy with everything sized appropriately.

Or AFR 295's.
11 more CID and a little higher lift cam, otherwise very similar engines.

My guess if you ran both heads on the same short block it would be maybe 30-40HP difference.

You certainly hit you mark, right between 9.30 and 9.40.
Great job.

Thanks I appreciate it felt great
Only thing that worried me was after a pass oil is hot if it idles at 1200 rpm oil pressure is in the
Mid 30s but as soon as I touch throttle it goes to 55 to 60 . Has kaase pump and probably nothing to worry about just saw that
Like 35 at hot oil 1200
Say 55 to 60 at 2k on up
