Tell us a little bit more on your engine.
Its been a couple of years ago but I think we were running about 0.0036 to 0.0040 on the mains with a TITAN oilpump in our nat asp engines.

Maybe you will need more clearance.

svo block
tfsA heads
4.500 scatt forged
6.8 olivers
diamond customs
kasse oil pump
wet sump set up

last few seasons i was running 4.300 stroke with a 4.440 bore
i had a oil ine failure last year and messed up rods and crank
so i changed my bore/stroke to help out the heads
but i ran it 7200 rpm's most of the time
but it did hit 8000 on real losse tracks
i dont like to run higher r's but sometimes it is needed to get the job done
so i want to build this right so i feel confident it will hold up

Jesse, First I would mock it up w/both top and bottom x's and see what u got. .0035 would probably be fine on high rpm deal like yours. JMO

JEEZ ... you guy's like some WIDE clearances.
Clearance is your friend with marginal parts which flex but, I don't go anywhere near that big when good, strong parts are used.

I guess everyone has their pet sizes...

Randy maybe he is using 90 weight oil.... lots of these guy's think you have to run oil so thick it has to be heated to drip or run. well all I see it does it just create bearing drag and cost hp not to mention be hard on oil pump shafts in the distributors......a good 10-30 synthetic is great and WAY LESS DRAG ON PARTS

imo, I would rather have a little over normal in a race engine than not enough.

Harold, IMO with that wt oil I would'nt want anything less than .003 on the mains . even a little more would make me feel more at ease.

go the xbearings today
my machinest had the set on hand
not shure why but worked good for me

he came over tonight and brought his stuff over
we checked it with half xbearings and half standerd
turn's out i am at 3.5thou
and we also checked it with standerd bearings
and comes out to about 3.1 thou
we are not shure how he came up with 2.6 when it was at his shop
but we checked it a number of times tonight keep comming up with 3.1-3.5
but when i checked it with plastic gauge like i said
i got barly 2 thou
so could plastic gauge be off that much?
now i just gotta figure out if i wanna run 3.1 or 3.5
