Cylinder Temperatures measured at header

Purchased an infrared temp gauge and thought I would try it out on measuring the temperatures on my header tubes. I would think they should all be within 30 degrees of each other, however, I measured #8 to be about 50 degrees cooler than any other. What do you think, just measured in the wrong spot or a potential problem? If a problem, what would cause a cylinder to be so much cooler?

i would say at idle that it would be common to see that much of a diff

Unless someone has already done some distribution work on it .... 50 degrees is CLOSE.

Have checked my header tubes a few times the same way. At idle, a range of 75 or 80 degrees from front to rear was common with the cylinders closest to the primary side being coolest. Have been wanting to check head temps ,front to rear, a.s.ap. at the end of a pull.

I tried the same thing, did temp monitoring with engine combo changes, found them same results, the temps varied as much as 75 degrees .

Thanks for the replies. I feel better now. So, what would cause it? How does one cylinder run richer or leaner than the others?

Is the temp difference more a function of the intake shape/design, or header shape/design? Or a little of both?
