Re: Stock pushrod length
Its a mid 70s D1VE block with D3 heads. Factory length valves, and factory rocker arms. Block has not been decked, and the heads have not been milled.
Edit
Its not often I get sticker shock, but I am pricing 12" digital calipers right now. WOW.

Hey old red...
I have used an old wrist pin and a 6" caliper with success.
stand the wrist pin on end on a hard flat surface then stand the pushrod up inside of the wrist pin.
If you know the length of the wrist pin and can add you just measure from the end of the pushrod to the end of the wrist pin....
this does not give you the true length of your pushrod due to the missing part of the ball but in my experience has been close enough.

Cheking everything you can.
FYI. Check at all four corners and both lobes of the cam. Dual pattern cams may have a different base circle on exhaust and intake lobes. The factory machining is not real good. I bored and decked blocks at a rebuilder, and the deck is usually off quite a bit. It will probably be off high at the front-low at the back on one side and the opposite on the other.
