pushrod length
from what ive read factory pr are 8.550 so since my heads were shaved 10thous. should i go with a 8.540? plus i think my in. valves are .100 longer than stock??? ???? 8.450??? input will be greatly appreciated . Erv.

Best just to bite the bullet and buy a pair of cheap adjustable checking pushrods. Check it with them and then proceed to order the correct length.

Just take a old push rod and cut out about 1/2" and pot a 1/4" or smaller short piece of all thread in it with 2 nuts. Adjust till the right length and measure.

this might be a stupid question but when they square a block and deck it do they go off the mains or the cam tunnel?

not sure if any vendors on here carry them or not, they will chime in if so if not you can get em at summit or jegs or evilbay, i just made my own like suggested in post above , now i gotta find some one with 12 in caliper

Most cam manufacturers sell adjustable checking pushrods. Also, many of the shaft mounted rocker arm companies such as W.W. Engineering, Jesel, and T&D sell checking pushrods. Furthermore as mentioned above, it is pretty easy to make up a set for yourself.
Most importantly,,,,,is the fact that you need a 12" dial caliper in order to measure that pushrod length with.

I've done this before and it worked great! And it only takes a few minutes to fab up.
