March 26, 2010 - NOTICE OF DECERTIFICATION; NOTICE TO CEASE AND DESIST AND TERMINATION OF ALL CONTRACTS OF PARTICIPATION ISSUED TO IMPACT RACING
SFI Foundation, Inc., has issued a Notice of Decertification; Notice of Cease and Desist, and a notice terminating all Contracts of Participation to Impact Racing. Effective April 27, 2010, all products manufactured and/or distributed by Impact Racing pursuant to SFI Specification Programs 3.2A, 3.3, 16.1, and 16.5 are decertified. Evidence obtained by SFI shows that over a period of years Impact Racing has engaged in the production and use of counterfeit SFI conformance labels and patches, and affixed them to Impact products for use in motorsports. Under the Contracts of Participation between SFI and Impact, SFI conformance labels and patches may only be obtained from SFI and no other source. Evidence shows that Impact had counterfeit SFI labels and patches made in Asia and then affixed them to Impact products it distributed to members of the racing community. To SFI’s knowledge, Impact never advised its customers that its products contained phony SFI labels and patches. Impact never advised SFI of its systematic and longstanding practice of counterfeiting and distributing SFI patches and labeling.
Impact has been directed to cease and desist from this practice. SFI has directed Impact to immediately notify all affected customers to remove the counterfeit labeling and to offer the affected customers a full refund of the purchase price. SFI is requesting that all counterfeit conformance labels removed from Impact products be sent to SFI.
SFI has elected not to decertify these products immediately in order to minimize the potential hardships to members of the racing community that have been brought about by Impact’s counterfeiting activities.
SFI has also elected to terminate all Contracts of Participation with Impact Racing effective 90 days from March 24, 2010. Under the terms of the Contracts, either party may terminate the agreements without penalty upon 90 days notice. This means that Impact will no longer be able to participate in any SFI programs after this 90 day period.
SFI has taken these actions in the best interests of the safety and integrity of the racing community. This is in keeping with SFI’s mission and purpose.

I dont get it, its not like Impact stuff is inexpensive. Kinda seems all about the $$$ to SFI. Like certs expiring on bellhousings.
Re: Is this for real
But are the SFI patches? you know how in the event of a crash how safe do your patches keep you, if theyre not authentic patches your life is at risk.richter69 wrote:I'm so glad I can drive up the the city in 30 minutes and buy Stroud products...............made right here in Oklahoma.

Re: Is this for real
So I think I am reading that SFI is pissed because Impact made up there own fake sfi tags...
No mention of whether or not the products are actually safe or not. Just that the tags are fake.
90 days from now Impact will be virtually out of business because they can no longer have anything to do with SFI.
Guess Bill tried to save some money by not paying SFI and now everybody involved is screwed. There are a lot of those new Impact suits out there that are now virtually worthless.

Re: Is this for real
This sucks. I just had my belts re-certified and now this happens. I guess that there could be a law suit by all the consumers against Impact racing. I also would like to know how Impact will refund all their customers there monies and when? There web site states that there products are certified.
So just how much money do you think he saved to loose his company?

Grahm Light says aril 27th is the last day any Impact stuff will be run.
One by one the competitors at zMax Dragway learned of the SFI decision to decertify certain products manufactured by Impact Racing.
Impact Racing has yet to relase an official statement to the media. However, the following statement has appeared on the Impact Racing website. [Source: impactraceproducts.com]
Bob Tasca driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Mustang, took a call from the manufacturer concerning their products in his use.
“They called me and told me my suit is safe,” revealed Tasca. “They have an issue with SFI that they are working on with their attorneys and that's the extent of my knowledge. I trust the product. I have used them for years and I have no apprehension at this time that it isn't what they say it is.”
Representatives of Don Schumacher Racing also had a conversation with an Impact Racing representative and opted to not make a comment on the situation at this time.
If the SFI sticks to its decision, it won't matter what assurances Impact supplies to the competitors, those products will no longer be allowed for use in the NHRA as of April 27, 2010.
This issue doesn't specifically affect the NHRA.
Phone conversations took place throughout the day between NASCAR and the NHRA, the sanctioning bodies with the most competitors affected by the SFI move.
Graham Light, NHRA Vice President of Operations, addressed the issue during a delay caused by a light rain.
“Basically, our rulebook requires certain products to be SFI certified,” said Light. “Which means as long as SFI is certifying those products we will accept them. If they are not certifying them, then they are not acceptable.”
Hundreds, possibly thousands of drivers in all forms of motorsports may well be placing orders for new uniforms and other safety equipment on the decertification list if an agreement between the SFI and Impact Racing isn't worked out within the next 30 days.
