I got my cometic gaskets now what???
Just went over instructions, it say install dry. But I heard people were using copper coat because of leaking issues. I'd rather be safe than sorry what to do?
It say matting surfaces must be smoth as 50Ra. I have no Idea of what my deck surface is or my heads for that matter. So now what do I do? thx!!!

What kind of block are you putting them on? SVO, or OEM production etc.?

My next question is did you get the Cometic gaskets from Lem? There's a reason for these questions and I'm trying to help.

hi
this will work, buy/order a spray can of hylamar, it sprays on gasket, coat both sides, very heavy, then install, i have installed these dry,and not dry,and now use this product on all copper gaskets, it works well, let sit over night, fire engine next day or so, we we tested them dry it also worked, i dont have time to go into detailes right now, its about 20.00 a can, 1 can will do both gaskets easy,

If the surface on the block and heads is correct the cometic will seal dry. If its not or there are scratches on the surface you better spray them with something.

Re: I got my cometic gaskets now what???
The reason I asked about which block and who's Cometic head gaskets is because there is an alignment issue with the steam holes being in the right place. So you will need to check carefully. This much I know, the Ford FRPP A-460 blocks, the FRPP C-460 heads, the TFS A-460 heads and Lem's own part number Cometic gaskets have the steam holes in the correct location.
May I suggest that before you coat the gaskets with any adhesive material, and proceed to bolt the heads on,,,,, that you mock up first and check for enough pushrod clearance. If you are using high ratio rocker arms, such as 1.8 to 1, that will move the pushrod around some. Check with the correct lifters, pushrods and etc. and check throughout the pushrod's travel.
Hope this helps,
Charlie Evans

Re: I got my cometic gaskets now what???
Deliveredfast,
Here's a summary. Use your Eliminator block and do not worry about drilling for steam holes. Use your Cometic head gaskets, with no modifications. Finally just use your TFS 18 bolt heads and you should have no problems.
As a side note. If you look at the deck surface of your heads and find the three steam holes between the four combustion chambers, you will note that those holes are slotted. This way they will cover both the holes in the wrong location, and/or the holes in the correct location. Lem was responsbile for making this change/correction about three+ years ago when the heads first came out.
Hope this helps,
Charlie
