Snake Eyes
The salvage yard game, always a gamble when buying a motor/trans/rear to use as a core. I've bought, stripped, used or sold several over the years with no problems, but all streaks must end, lol.
I picked up a 460 minus carb and distributor, my plans are to use the block only. I cracked it open and found some impressive stuff, but mostly frustration.
I found this somewhat impressive, in that the rod didn't break or the cast piston didn't explode, lol.
Unfortunately the bore this rod assembly came out of wasn't so impressive:
Cracked down the cylinder. I texted a pic of the cylinder to the the guy who owns the yard I got it out of, no biggie, just need to go pick up another one when I get a chance.
The engine had been rebuilt at least once as the bore was .040 and the crank had been turned .010/.010.
For kicks I stuck a piston that came out of the engine I ran the past couple of season in the 460's bore.
I think I'm going to like this, , just need to find a good block.

Re: Snake Eyes
Ford makes some good rods in my book I had this one in a 351c it took the cyclinder wall out and messed the block up good messed the piston up good but never came off the rod it was a trw forged .040 and could fire the engine up when I pulled the engine. This is from back in 2000 when it did this from dropping a stock valve from a 71 model 351c 4v head .
