Milling question??? Empty Milling question???

Post  KdogWillis April 19th 2010, 8:53 am

Fellas I hope everything is going well with all ya'll Very Happy I had my heads milled one thousandths of a inch when I had them re-worked. I have a Weiand Stelth manifold. This being my first some what high perfomance engine I tend to take in all the info I can. My question is. Since my heads have been milled should I have my intake milled too? Thanks for all your help fellas....

I'm sorry about that. It may be .010(ten thousandths of an inch). I had the machine work done about twelve years ago and just finally able to finish where I left off. I'm reading the old machine shop ticket and it has seen better days.

are you sure about it only being milled .001?
thats a miniscule amount off of a head.
not a chance you need to do anything for port mismatch at one thou.

EDIT: you posted while i was hunting and pecking Very Happy

Every thing should be fine at .010, you shouldn't need any milling to your intake.

I agree I have never had any problems with 30 thousandths on my setups. I usually go for more compression on my motors and stick with 30.

Thanks for the info fellas. Sorry about that decimal in the first post. It was .010 taken off. I was told that the heads were in good shape and he was just going to do a valve job and clean them up a bit, so thats why it was only a small amount taken off. This being my first performance build I want to learn all that I can and try to do it right the first time.....
