what would be the ideal bore specifications to a 460 short big block? over .030?
I know that its what many people i know have done to their standard 302 just to the fact that any more can be risky.

First of all these are not small blocks! I have seen .060 easy .080 on a regular basis, and some up to 4.500.... all depends on what it will sonic check.... but .060 is n/p and I feel .080 is n/p either...... just need to check when you get it that far....

X2 what Coug said. IMO, I would always hard block it at .080.

"Ideal bore?" For what engine combo and applicaton? Ford seems to think that 4.36" is an "ideal bore" for a 460. Others think it is 4.44". And when it comes to super exotic engines, other builders yet think 4.625" is the way to go (aftermarket block required).

Please describe what you actually mean by "ideal bore." Do you mean "maximum safe bore capability?"
