Emissions in Texas
Gonna be movin to big D in july and was wonderin if my trucks were gonna have to go thru emissions testing there. Bettin neither one would pass. They would both pass inspection just not emissions. Anything I need to know before goin in, thanx. Never lived anywhere but here and they dont even inspect here anymore much less test emissions. Hell I can go to the local muffler shop and have a whole exhaust, no cats, done no questions asked. Just wonderin how strict they are and if I should rethink my build. UUUUgh I HATE MOVING. Sorry had to get that out anyway any advice would be appreciated.

Emissions are set by county. Stay out or Dallas, Collin, Denton and Tarrant Co's, and you'll probably be ok.

Re: Emissions in Texas
like Curt said. Where exactly are you moving and I can tell you what kind of testing? After you get a tag you will most likely never be bothered by johnny law. I have been driving my 92 mustang with no cats since the middle 90's without trouble but I don't live in an emissions county either.

Age of the car also plays a part in the DFW area. If it's old enough all that will be done is a "visual" inspection, no sniffer or computer testing is needed.

I wouldn't put a kid in Dallas schools if you threatened taking my left nut. If I had special needs kids then go north of Dallas to Plano, McKinney, Allen, Lovejoy, Wylie, Garland, Frisco, Prosper, or basically anywhere other than Dallas.

It has to be better than here where there are no services available for my childrens needs. And looks like Dallas county.
