dropped valve?
what would cause a valve to drop? my brother was reving it but not hard maybe 3500rpm's. next thing bam bam bam. shut it off pull heads and dropped an exhaust valve. the valve head broke off. trying to figure why? .030 460 solid roller cam(low .600 lift) iron cj heads performer rpm intake 850 holley. any ideas? block is junk. it has a big ol hole in it. thanks

here what happen to me when the valve head pops off this is the piston out of my 351c with 2.19 1.72 valves took the block out and 1 head going down the road turning 2500 rpms

i think they were manley
valves. i know they were ss valves. are they 2 piece? block is wasted half the cylinder wall is gone. my next ? is a buddy said we can have his back up motor. hyper pistons, .030, balanced, stock rods w/ arp bolts, c460 hydraulic cam. what would are compression be with 72cc heads? the pistons are sealed power h535 flat tops w 2 valve reliefs. would it be to high? we just want to get back to the track. thanks

Re: dropped valve?
Is the rotating assembly except for the one piston not any good? if it is I would find another block replace piston an fix heads. Just my .02c.

block is junk
im pretty sure the block is junk. the heads dont look that bad. im sure it will need a new seat and obviosly a new intake and exhaust valve. the chamber doesnt look that bad either. ive seen alot worse that were able to be fixed plus i allready have a set of dove heads that are ported w/ big valves. thanks

Re: dropped valve?
I hope you know that there are three different series or "grades" of Ferrea stainless steel valves. The PN is laser etched in the stem up at the tip of the valve. Let us know what the number is please.
