Wes Littrell saying hello Empty Engine explosion

I was in the burnout turning about 7000 and just as I let off it banged and started vibrating.It broke the #8 alu rod and ruined my A-460 block,one piston and slammed the piston into the chamber and bent the valves.The head is a pretty minor repair.I'm going back with scat h-beams with the good bolts.It didn't even put a scratch on the crank,so I got lucky there.The block is the painfull thing.I have a nice $2000 footstool Neutral . 7000 RPM in the water will cause that alot!! I popped 2 motors before a good friend explained to me that high RPM's in the water is alot like holding one at the same RPM in neutral. I haven't had one come apart in the water box since, but I try not go above 5500 RPM on my burnouts now. I feel for you Wes , just trying to help you, not being sarcastic or anything . It helped me ,thought I'd pass it on.

Dan I don't think it can be repaired.It tried to push the side of the block off.It has three cracks that go through the pan rail.One is parallel with the crank and goes through even the outside water jacket in the bellhousing area.I will try to get some pics soon.Wes
