Ford 400 issues
Hey fellas...sorry, it's not a 460, and that may be the problem. Anyway, earlier this week the 400 in my Bronco seemed to be on it's death bed with how it was running. I assumed it jumped time...and it did by about 20* more. Now I put this engine in in October with 70,000 miles on it. About 2 months ago I regasketed and resealed everything. It ran perfectly for those 2 months until Tuesday.
Now I sit here down to the timing set and I can't figure out what's wrong. So far I've checked the oil pump for binding...it's a-ok. I checked the distributor gear and roll pin, and they're fine...as are the distributor springs. The cam bolt was torqued within spec. The timing set is a Comp Cams double roller and the gear is good, the sprocket is good and there was no chain deflection. Also, the balancer lined up perfectly with TDC.
So why on earth did my timing go from 14* to 35ish*? And it held 35*, it wasn't bouncing around. If you guys have any ideas, tips, tricks or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit...I would also like to make note that the first thing I thought was a loose dizzy clamp. Before I did anything else, I tried rotating the dizzy by hand, nothing, tried a pipe wrench...nothing. The bolt was torqued down pretty well.

Distributor gear. Did ya check it by driving the roll pin out? Mine looked fine but was spun just a little on the shaft.
