New nomination
Being as how Batman has a sidekick named Robin, and he took him under his Batwing and guided him. I nominate Justin to be HeRo in training. We as a group need to give him his name.

That's what I consider myself. I be the ZeRo, I may not have a cape, but you don't need a cape to screw stuff up. Hey, believe it or not I am the smartest when it comes to cars in my family. But my machinist called me "Mr. I wanna go prostock racing" because I kept trying to max out everything on my 466.

Justin, you may only be 16,but u r alot more mature than most in their 20/30's for your age. You are on a good path. You sound like you have the desire to be a really good engine guy. Pick you a good school and you could go really far. Good luck young Brother

Re: New nomination
Thanks a lot, no one in my school cares about any cars which means no one wants to talk to a kid that talks about cars all day. I really am more mature than many kids my age and a little older. I just had a run in with a 21 year old two days ago and you don't even want to know what he was saying to me. I swear I'm the only person at this school (3 HS's combined) that doesn't smoke weed or ciggarretes, but I learned a while ago. If you get your kids into cars then you know their money isn't going to other things. If it wasn't for my f100 I would have gotten into bad things.
As for school, I'm trying to figure out which of two I want to go to. I made up my mind a long time ago that I wanted to be a high performance engine builder, if it wasn't for this website and you guys I wouldn't know as much as I do now. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with me guys, and thanks for allowing me to be a part of this community. I always got a lot to say But it really means a lot to me that you guys don't treat me like I'm some stupid punk kid.

I have a brother, its not always peachy like it is on here. I'm the younger one but I've proven that that doesn't mean anything. SomethingI like about this forum is the hospitality of everyone.bbf-falcon wrote:How else would brothers treat each other

Re: New nomination
Justin, you are always welcome here. We all make mistakes, but rather than be a whiner, you manned up. That speaks volumes about ones character. We all come here to soak up the knowlege and rib one another and pat each others backs for a job well done. The Tech Seminar this last Jan was at a college in Terre Haute, IN named Rose Hullman. Uncle Charlie has some connections there. It would be a good college to look into. Still trying to get you a good name though.

Re: New nomination
Thanks again, I always try to be honest. I always try to give my word and keep it. The colleges I was thinking about were either a local community college called Washtenaw or a school in Lima Ohio called UNOH.
Washtenaw is a community college but they are supposed to have one of the best auto programs, my dad went there and most of the auto teachers in my school have another job working there. But I have not yet taken a tour there. There isn't much on their website but they have video's on youtube of what they have built. But did they do the machining on it is the question.

UNOH or University of Northwestern Ohio, is on I am leaning more towards. They have a class that is exactly what I'm looking for its called "high performance engine building and machining." They both came to my school and both were impressive. They had a video but I'm not stupid like the other kids where they show the stuff and I'm like "oh my god that's so awesome I want to go there." I made the decision based on their programs and what they offer. They seem to be the college to go to for what I want to do, they own everything shown in the video, they even own limaland.

I'll check out the one you suggested as well, thanks.

Re: New nomination
Slap yourself in the face as hard as you can and say "I'm gonna do it!". It might help. It really is difficult staying on task, I'm doing a ground up restoration. It takes motivation and dedication to do it, I'm taking advantage of the summer days to do what I can while I can.Maddmattmustangs wrote:bbf-falcon wrote:Justin, you may only be 16,but u r alot more mature than most in their 20/30's for your age. Should have seen my wreck when I got it. Thing had the shin on a dryer for the floorpan and only part of a cowl
I've stuck myself in the right direction I hope for both my engines. Actually more worried about the Cleveland than the bigblock. I'm pushing that little smallblock at this point. 550hp for the Cleveland is gonna be stressing a few things.... And my wallet. You ever consider UTI or wyotech?

Dang you've got a lot of work. If that's the mustang in your avatar then bravo, you've done a great job. Its difficult to make up patch panels, you need all the supplies and tools and it takes some time.Maddmattmustangs wrote:Should have seen my wreck when I got it. UTI-HAYL NO! j/k I made up my mind that I was not going there a long time ago. I just don't like how it is setup and I think that's the school where they build engines and put all of them in roadsters or something. I don't like how they are all going in the same thing because IMO it only shows the kids how to work on that car and that car only. I don't know, I just am not fond of the way things are setup versus some other schools.
Wyotech- I was actually thinking about going there, it was added to one of the top three schools that I wanted to go to a month or two ago. About a year ago my engine builder/machinist said that he went there and he's got a full shop and customers always walking in the door. They came to my school and I like what they have to offer but I haven't looked into it too deeply.

Re: New nomination
Hey young feller, don't sleep on Macomb county comm college. They offer the Ford ASSET PROGRAM there. When you complete the program you will receive dual degrees
1. Associate degree of general studies
2. Associate degree of science of automotive technology
Also you will receive all of your ASE certifications
You spend 3 months at the dealership and 3 months at school each semester. You can just Google Ford ASSET PROGRAM and get more info or HeRo can come on and tell you more about it.

Re: New nomination
Thanks, I'll look into that school as well. I mainly want to get a degree in engine machining because I would like to try and open up a shop. I want to work for someone to get used to how to run a shop like that then go my own way and make a business. I just finished 10th grade so I still have a little time to decide where I want to go. But I assure you I will think it through completely before I apply.
