D's557BBF wrote:Hey young feller, don't sleep on Macomb county comm college. They offer the Ford ASSET PROGRAM there. When you complete the program you will receive dual degrees
1. Associate degree of general studies
2. Associate degree of science of automotive technology
Also you will receive all of your ASE certifications
You spend 3 months at the dealership and 3 months at school each semester. You can just Google Ford ASSET PROGRAM and get more info or HeRo can come on and tell you more about it.
I never did the schools, but we have a few here at work that did. The Mexican that is our other diesel tech went through the program.....I give him hell but he's a pretty good tech.
Not sure I would encourage one to take this path, this job is hard on a feller.............

Absolutely nothing wrong with any of those schools, but there is a college here in Nebraska called Southeast Community College, Milford Campus that is one of the best in the world for what you are looking at. I graduated from there many many years ago and it still is one of the best. They have courses in every type of automotive discipline. They also have HD truck, farm, and construction diesel courses. They have the Ford ASSET program there now I believe, and a huge John Deere program. I did the electrical course there. They not only teach you the skills, but also the business end also and that is what makes them so much better than most schools.

I've heard nothing but good things about this program as well. Not right next door for you, but might be worth considering.

Re: New nomination
I'm looking into it right now. http://www.southeast.edu/
Engine II would probably be the class. http://www.southeast.edu/Media/Website%20Resources/Media/programs/coursedescriptions/crsedesc_AUTT.pdf
One thing I know of from experience is that even if you know everything in the first course, you have to suck it up and sit through it before you can take the class you REALLY want. Like I said, I want to be doing machining and high performance engine building. Believe it or not I am very technical and a perfectionist so I really enjoy getting deep into engines and making sure clearances and measurements are accurate down to the ten thousandths. That's the stuff I like, making sure its all done right and perfect so you can handle all the power you can throw at it. If you get me building an engine you have to make sure I don't get carried away or you'll end up with a max effort motor. But I know when to stop if its someone elses motor, I try to get as much power as possible out of a build. Thant means booster jets, secondaries, cam centerline and advance are all at the best possible settings. I'm adding these schools to my list, thanks guys.

bb429power wrote:Dang you've got a lot of work. If that's the mustang in your avatar then bravo, you've done a great job. Its difficult to make up patch panels, you need all the supplies and tools and it takes some time.Maddmattmustangs wrote:Should have seen my wreck when I got it. I've stuck myself in the right direction I hope for both my engines. Actually more worried about the Cleveland than the bigblock. I'm pushing that little smallblock at this point. 550hp for the Cleveland is gonna be stressing a few things.... And my wallet. You ever consider UTI or wyotech?
Yea i didnt have the correct tools either. Just eyeballed the panels then took some measurements and used a pretty large amount of trig to double check and correct panel height and the frame. Im still not done i have the front passenger side fender that has a small spot of cancer. I plan on replacing the hood so the bent corner doesnt bother me either. Probably going to replace the bumpers and front fenders with fiberglass parts to shave some weight off the car. Ive always been at home the most with body and chassis work. same with suspension work
just keep me away from the wiring.....

Re: New nomination
Great, then in a little bit when my f100 is ready to be wired you can come up here and wire it. The wiring I pulled out of that thing was jerry rigged and the guy used house wiring stuff like wire nuts and all. I can do it, I just have to get in the zone and be patient.richter69 wrote:wiring is easy..............

UNOH looks impressive, but I haven't seen some other schools. I guess they have a night club, they put it in their video to draw kids in.
The school in Macomb County recommended by Big D, I was talking to my uncle and he recommended that school to me. He's the one that brought it up and he told me about Ford had it built to train their employee's. That's pretty cool, I'm looking at them because D mentioned the degree's.
By the way, what was the tech seminar that Big Daddy brought up?
Flounder? You trying to call me fat?

A Founder is a "Flat" Fish......
The School Big Daddy Schmitty was talking about is a small Engineering School in Indiana. Christina Lawyer when there for her Bachlors degree. Nice campus and from my understanding great classes and reputation.
