Hey guys,
Is Gerry Penn there showing us all how to get it done? I seem to remember him saying that Norwalk was his home track.

The vine is fine.
I got a call from the old hippie...and he was as happy as if he had his right mind!
He said that the bus motor ran fine and he was 'choppin the tree down all day.
It was good to hear.
Dan-o...if you see this....keep it up all weekend!

Re: Fords at the summit report
Rick was running 9.40's.
They got the jet car out for the second time, the sun was hot as hell and super bright, then ran came down outta no where like two tons of bricks. They got the track going again.
A guy's chute pulled him across the track and into the wall. I saw fire but it didn't light the car up luckily, I hope he was okay.
Before that Rick was first in line to race then a guy leaked down the track which to forever to clean up. He opened his chutes and it pulled him straight out of the right lane into the left wall. I saw fire, but it didn't go up in flames and he (I think) was okay.
Well they stopped the races due to lightning and we were coming back from Bob Evans, talked with the security gaurd for a while then they started racing again. I walked over to the staging lanes and had a quick word with Rick and Dan then went to the stands. Rick was next to go and then he was delayed again. Some jackass got his truck and trailer stuck in the sand traps I guess he was one of the people who were drinking.
I looked and looked and looked for Randy and Adney's stand but I couldn't find them. One thing I was getting annoyed with was them mopping the starting line after every run and all the cars leaking crap down the track. I've never seen so many shutdowns in my life.
Pictures soon to come, I didn't get many but I walked around a lot because of the shut downs. I'll explain some of the other breakage with the pictures. Oh, and Big D, I saw you but was in the middle of talking to someone so I couldn't say hi or anything. And for the gentleman with the red 64 comet I saw your car in the pits but I couldn't find you anywhere near it.

Man you should have come on over, I would have loved to meet cha!
I'm embarrassed to say I'm a Ford guy after all them leaking azz cars kept shutting down the track!! Worst Ford event I ever attended. If it wasn't for the forum members that was there I would have been outta there before the rains!! We have the best forum members in the world at www.429-460.com
Just to let you guys know just how hot it was Saturday. Remember the 2008 bash, well it close to that day. Just a few degrees off...
Thanks Harold for the use of the gulf cart! and DanO you made mommas day by letting her sit in your AIR CONDITIONED TRAILER!! All you guys are ACES!!

Re: Fords at the summit report
That rain came down like no tomorrow out of nowhere, luckily it was before the jet car got to stage and start going. That would have been ugly, the rain stopped as quick as it started. Second time I've been to Norwalk, rained a bunch the morning of the last time we went. Luckily Summit is good with drying the track with that jet truck. But man that guy kept going back and forth for the longest time when they shut it down the one time way before the rain. Sooooo many shutdowns

Re: Fords at the summit report
did they get the Quick 16 qualifying in, what what the bump and top qualifyer in the door cars? We unloaded the car saw a somewhat large problem before we fired it up and headed home. sounds like we didn't miss too much with oil downs and wrecks.

Re: Fords at the summit report
Adney and I got there Thursday evening as instructed by promoters; there were exactly 4 vendors there on "set-up" day; Thursday.
They set us up on the spectator and car show side of the track just downtrack from "manufacturers row". We were there all day Friday and all day Saturday.
SPECTATORS don't buy "hard core" race parts; RACERS do.
We sold only a couple fuel jugs in two full days. No cranks or rods or carburetors or race mufflers or anything else. We left for home on Saturday night at 9:30 pm definately not to return on Sunday.
There were probably only a couple 100 spectators in all.
The hard core race parts vendors SHOULD be set-up on the RACER'S side of the track.
Vendors who sell posters and model cars, race memorabilia and junk parts were busy ... any vendor with hard core race parts to sell had two days of wasting their time. (Three days if they stayed).
Racers can't really leave their cars for more than 20 minutes or so and it was a 1/2 mile to the vendors from the other, (racer's), side of the track,

Re: Fords at the summit report
It rained till about 12:30 pm Sunday or so they dried the track and started racing about 2:00 pm or so.Harold didn't get a good burnout and rolled thru the beams and red lighted first round i believe,Dan ran a 9.299 on a 9.29 dial for the win,Rick dialed a 9.65 and ran a 9.45 other guy red lighted.Second round Dan dialed a 9.28 i think ran a 9.32 but red lighted and Rick dialed a 9.45 ran a 9.42 and also red lighted. It was nice meeting Dan and Harold for the first time real nice guys.It looked pretty crappy around noon Rick and Dan were ready to head home but stayed to race 2 rounds,Later Mark.
