My friend Bills double blowout and the roadside emergency crew, these guys are better than AAA. Bill was just amazed that all of you guys stopped and jumped right in helping him get it fixed, even loaning him tires to put on it when the one spare he had ended up having a leak.

Re: Fords at the summit report
Glad too see everyone one had a good time and made it home safe. This is a race that I plan on being at next year with the new car.I have been to Norwalk back in 1998 with Damon running in the North stars track team finals. That's been the best track set up that I've ever seen and the owners did everything they could to make it a great event.Even though it was cold and rainy all weekend.I think that race was in October.

We will have even more fun w/you Chuck. Me and the need help drinking the beer and applepie. Norwalk was voted best track in the nation last year by the FANS, and if you ever race there for a weekend you will know why. Billy Bader (owner) was working the starting line ALL weekend w/broom and never stopped. It has problems from time to time but when they do it always turns out better. This race is becoming like another Bash of the north. Hope we can get more forum racers each year.

Re: Fords at the summit report
Billy was out there? I would have had no clue, that's cool because a lot of track owners don't care. They just stay at home and let the money come in or something like that, I mean you have to love cars to open up a dragway. Expect me to race the f100 next year, but it makes me nervous thinking about it since its such a big track. I'm worried about not knowing what to do, but it worked out at my local track so it should be a piece of cake. I would hope to race some of you guys but I will be in the 11's, then I'll make a real drag car to race. Can't wait to race it!

I heard the same thing. He loves the sport and would do anything he can too make it better. When the NHRA was up there the Bader family ran the event not the NHRA.They were there to enforce the rules that's all.I think that's cool as hell.dfree383 wrote:I understand the owner of that track loves racing and is a damn good business man to boot.

Re: Fords at the summit report
Mark Meyers, we met this guy and his friend at the last high school drags. He had this rail car there to get a chassis cert done and we talked to him while waiting for the gates to open, he lives in Warren MI and has a BBF in it. Dialed in at 7.35.
Here is his buddy that we talked to, he lives in Plymouth MI just a street over from us. We never would have known, we talked to them again at Norwalk. When we met them we were at Milan.
This red 65 belongs to our old auto teacher. He quit a year or two back, they weren't funding the program as much as they should have so he finally left. They bearly fund the program but yet they get a bunch of money for it, so wheres the money really going? He works at the community college I was talking about before, he got them into the high school nationals along with the high schools. I guess the other teacher that took his place is also leaving, then the other teacher quit. Next year auto shop might be gone Cool guy, all three teachers were/are. I made friends with the other teacher and I was always the person he went to when he wanted work done on his superbird.
Guy laid his carbon fiber drive shaft to rest at the starting line, laid it into the asphalt.
This guy launched and broke something in the front right, a pin broke or something because his wheel started wobbling. then when they went to push the car off it wouldn't come out of gear.

Just a hand full in the stands, smaller event than I thought it would be. But hopefully it grows and becomes the new Ford bash.....the northern 1/4 version that is.dfree383 wrote:doesn't look like any spectators their ????

I don't know if you guys know it or not but, the Bader family owned THREE rather large 1/4 mile drag race tracks and owned the entire IHRA santioning body.
They sold IHRA along with two of those tracks and then made their Norwalk venue an NHRA track.
Drive shaft explosion
He did not blow something in the front end. His Carbon Fiber driveshaft exploded took track personel an hour to clean it up due to the carbon fiber embeding itself in the racing surface

I know, my description of the picture is ABOVE it. You must have read the description of the picture BELOW it.Dagwood wrote:

In my post it says "Guy laid his carbon fiber drive shaft to rest at the starting line, laid it into the asphalt." above this picture.

Re: Fords at the summit report
Before this event I wanted to build a maverick drag car because there aren't many of them built in to drag cars. They are perfect for drag racing and I love them, but it was maverick central at Norwalk! I've never seen so many in my life, there were more mavericks than anything else.
