Oil press. delay at startup....?
Recently my oilpress takes 3-5 seconds to hit my gauge. The gauge gets its press. from the rear of the motor by the rear valley seal. It holds plenty of press driving and idling (more than 10 psi per 1000 rpm). Its just started doing this in the last few months, I dont drive it but a couple of times a month. The motor doesn't have many miles on it since the rebuild.
The motor does have the comp 836 roller lifters, I also tweeked the bypass valve in the oil pump before I put it back together this last time. I cant really tell that the motor makes any different noises than before. It just concerns me cause it used to hit the gauge before I could let off the key.
I did check the oil level and I put a new oil filter on it (NAPA), still no change.
ANy thoughts?

It seems like this all started after I put a NAPA race filter on it. I had been using the standard filters forever. I thought it might be a drainback issue so I switched back and still have the press issue. The new filter has about an hour of runtime on it.
I guess the filter stays full because it on the block.

It's at the back, but I thought about hooking up a gauge to the front to see if the delay is there also.

Could be what Randy said,,,,,filter draining back. Also, a bigger hose like the NOS systems use seem to hit the gauge quicker than the little plastic ones.
