Anyone here paint their own car? We can't find any companies close that want to do a simple car wrap so i guess we are going to paint our own ride. I have only used single stage paint and now we are thinking about using the newer techniques.

Can you or do you have some one that can apply the wrap? I know a guy here that wraps cars, trucks, and trailers. Does some amazing graphics too. http://www.creativeink.ca/wrap.php

i painted my torino in my home garage with a $175 spray gun kit. turned out awesome-- lots of prep time, painting was about 2% of the effort, then wet sanded with 1000,1500, then 2500....and hand buffed it out with medium cut and then final hand glaze-

a couple of dusties in it and a gnat, but i pulled them out with a pieve of fishing line while the clear was fresh, then the spots were smoothed with the wet sanding the clear- other than those small ordeals all went well. i used PPG shopline and it was under 300 for clear, color, and reducers and hardeners----

my avatar pic is just the color..........not even cleared yet at the time-

i havent done any paint work in 2yr's but always liked ppg products.the dbc 100 clear works good for an air dry deal.the epa is gettn tough on people so gettn some good auto paint may be hard to do.the last single shot paint i used was dupont imron?, i think thats how it's spelled,it's good stuff too if your doen a solid color. Yep, I've painted a bit and I'm not talking about a rattle can. Can get expensive in a hurry, I want to get an airbrush and work some magic. I'm creative so I should be good with it. My dad has been painting his whole life, 15 years as a profession then got out of it because of the health issues involved. Still does paintwork, he's got a good 25 years under his belt.
