Crane Cams
Hi everyone.
Had to make a call to Crane today. Had to check a spec on some springs I ran acros today. But they were too small..
FYI they will have their full line up by the end of the year. Also, their catalog will be out in aprox 6 weeks
BUY AMERICAN, CRANE!

My brother went to their website a while back, it was an Australian company. I think it may have been a knock off website, I like Lunati's can choice. Almost bought Crane's rocker arms but Summit took them off the shelf for a while then came back. I wised up and got some nice Harland Sharps. Not saying Crane's were bad.

depends on what you are using them for, on a high r.p.m. race engine, I would not trust them.

Re: Crane Cams
5750 rpm's MAX with 554 lift. Nothing to sweat about. I liked the fact that they are 100% American made, machined, and 100% American materials. Plus their warranty. Now a different business has bought them out, I don't know if they make them any different than they used to. Their supposed to be the first to make roller rockers.
To each their own, I'm still learning so I wouldn't know what's better (to an extent).

Re: Crane Cams
when I raced my small blocks I raced every weekend the track was opened, like 20+ years of it and I guess 9000 to 10,000 RPm was not High enough for you huh?
I probably have more run down the 1/4 mile than you will rack up in 20+ years, I had a box with probably 2000+ slips in it till the wife discarded them... and Yes Harland Sharp was the builder of the first Roller rockers.....
The Reason I do not use Crane is the cost me a complete 302 Boss @ 9200 rpm it makes a mess and they told me if I started the engine the warranty was off Why have a warranty if you can't start the engine.....

Re: Crane Cams
Most people don't know that Harland Sharp has two different part number rocker arms with completely different geometry for use on the Big Block Ford or Cleveland Ford. They only advertise the one type.
Then there are the Chevrolet geometry rockers which are completely different than those.

Re: Crane Cams
I've had luck w/Crane and Harland Sharpe rockers BUT,I don't race EVERY week ,Sometimes twice for Harold. Of the people on both Forums I would say that Harold and Gary Varney are at the track the most.

NOT just ratios ... different geometries for the SAME ratio.

S4005 is the standard one advertised for a Ford but, it may be to long when a long stem valve is used.
The Harland Sharp #S4073 is the shorter rocker which compares to the FRPP, Crane Gold or TFS rockers.
S2001 is the Chevrolet geometry rocker.

Re: Crane Cams
Harland sharp is what I run and have run for the last 15 years with no failers ! Crane and Comp both have had one failers each my junk. I also twist mine anywhere from 7500 to 8500 rpm. depends on if the rev limiter is working or not! All three that I have mentioned are good companys and are built buy humans so they are going to fail IMHO! Buy american!

Re: Crane Cams
Randy, I'm going to get adjustable push rods and set the geometry to match anyway. I should be set then right?
