We found a sweet spot last night
It was so darn hot I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go make some passes. We did go and I'm real happy with the results.
My first pass was a 12.74 just like last wed night.
I started playing around with my launch rpm and shift rpm and found what worked and didn't work.
The truck seems to like a 3800 chip in the 2 step and 5600 shifts. We tried shifting at 5800 but I got into my rev limiter (6200)before shifting into second gear.
Oh and it's time to install those wheel screws I bought awhile back . I was afraid to drop the air pressure below 10psi. The wheels have both spun about 3" on the tire.
My best pass went like this,
60ft=1.68
330=5.02
1/8=7.87@85.19mph
1000=10.37
1/4=12.53@103.71
Here is a video of that pass.
Does it look like it hooks then unloads the suspension right away?

Nice!! Sure sounds good.
It does seem to do a little double hop right at the hit. Can you tighten your shocks at all?

Mike get them screws in and try 8 psi it did look like it wanted to unload could be dew to the tire pressure but like Bill said could be the shocks rebound causing the little hop.If it was me I would try lower tire pressure it will soften the the launch alittle and may take the bounce out of it.

Looks pretty good there Mike. I agree, it does have a small amount of bounce right at the hit of the tire. I had the same problem with mine, but I had to soften my rear springs to get rid of it. Making mine stiffer made it worse with my truck.

Lookin' good there Mike. Sounds good to. Looks like you spanked that Lightning. My car has been 2-3 tenths off in this midwest heat so I bet you've got some 12.20's to .30's in it with some decent air.

Looked like it hooked pretty well to me....kind of looked like the bounce was in the tire? What size tire?

Re: We found a sweet spot last night
I'm willing to try changes even if it slows down. Atleast that way I know what does or doesn't work.
So keep the ideas coming.
At this point we are just having fun. I doubt I'll try a real dragrace this season.
Mike your Fairlane is a sweet ride. I got a chance to check it out at the bash.
Jeff they are 29.5x10.5 slicks.

Have you tried running around 13-15 psi? Most guys I know run in that area if not more....Doesn't cost much to try if you haven't already...f250mike wrote:Jeff they are 29.5x10.5 slicks.
Nice pass BTW....sounds good.

Nice run. Drop a set of 4.10's in there and shave another several tenth's. You will be tickling the 11's shortly.

Gears will help. My truck picked up when I switched to drag radials. If you can find a set used buy them. I have no screws and without a tb Ive been consistent 1.6s with a best of 1.63 with the same basic combo. 3.70s with 325/50 MTs (28") Also where do you your timing set? My truck ran the best at 40 total.

Re: We found a sweet spot last night
Jeff 10-4 on the 13 -15psi tire pressure. We haven't tried that yet and it's free.
Already have plans for 4.11 gears. Just haven't got them yet.
My timing is @ 35* right now. I have the msd timing control on the dash so bumping timing up is as simple as a turn of the dial.
I'll see if I can borrow some drag radials.
Thanks for the help guys.
By the time I get the transfer case pulled out along with some other non needed parts it might go 11's.

Re: We found a sweet spot last night
We took the truck out again last wed night. I only made 3 passes as the tracks timing system was dead.
The first pass we tried 15 psi in the slicks and spun bad off the line and again when I hit 2nd gear. The other 2 passes were at 14 and 13 psi and not much better than the first pass.
The track prep wasn't very good. Everyone was having trouble spinning.
Right now I'm working on changing to 4.11 gears and installing wheel screws.
If I get it done before Wednesday we are heading back to the track.

How much horsepower and torque do you have at what rpms?

Re: We found a sweet spot last night
Justin I'm not sure of the Hp or torque.
My guess is around 500hp and the same torque. Maybe a bit more or less.
Desktop dyno came up with 564hp but I doubt it's right.
The cam card says 5700rpm is peak hp and valves float @ 6500.

Re: We found a sweet spot last night
Thanks, I was just wondering because I'm estimating what my truck will run. Your is pretty cool, mine it will be a 12 second minimum and I'm pretty sure I'll get in to the 11's. I'm turning a little less rpms, making the same hp but more torque. My truck is bigger and much heavier I'm sure.
