gjanes wrote:I am not upset, just don't appreciate it when you call me ignorant. I didn't think that I was asking a question about just Chevys. I thought that I was asking a question about a Quick Fuel carb. Maybe I am wrong thinking that a Quick Fuel carb is adjusted the same on the Fords and Chevys.
I am going to try to find a Chevy form where I can post the question. Sorry that I ever posted anything on the forum.

You are certainly correct when you say the carb adjustment doesn't recognize what engine it is on. Where I take issue with you is when you question someone because he likes Fords, while extolling the virtues of your Chevy El Camino, while telling us how you've always been a Chevy guy. Sorry you don't understand, didn't mean to run you off, but if that's all it takes to upset you, well then welcome to the Internet...and get used to disappointment.

Re: Quick Fuel Carb. Adjustment
he was just reffered here because we have some of the most intelligent engine builders on the planet here ...... Lem and Phillip can probably tune a carb over the phone ..if you know what i mean ..... you never know he might just want to put a BBF in his El Camino

If I'm out of line Nick, just say so. My point is, I wouldn't go on a Chevy site telling them how wonderful my Ford Mustang is and how I've owned it for 35+ years but gee I can accept that Chevy's are Ok but I'm really a Ford guy and not expect to catch some flack. Just strikes me as odd, but I guess in these politically correct times it's not correct to question anyones motives. Sorry to piss in your Post Toasties.....I guess I just don't understand the reasoning. Please enlighten me.

I said I was done Harold, but correct me if I'm out of line. I still don't understand his logic on coming to a Ford site for advise, while extolling the virtues of his Chevy. It does suggest the Chevy guys can't offer advise on how to tune carbs though....

The guy may be legit, but my whole Q jet comment was to smoke out a troll.
Just seems odd, but then again Ford guys do seem to have better a better grasp on things lol.

You are not out of line, he knew exactly what he was doing, try going to one of their sites, and pose the same question, then see how much flack you get.

Re: Quick Fuel Carb. Adjustment
Wait, lets go back to what Lem first said. Isn't turning the screw IN richening it and turning it out leaning it? That's what I always though. Plus if I turn the screw in on my carb it WILL run rich, the power is decreased and the exhaust is sort of black.

Re: Quick Fuel Carb. Adjustment
Really? It was an Edelbrock carb that I was working with. He has a Quick Fuel, I'm trying to figure this out.res0rli9 wrote:bb429power wrote:Wait, lets go back to what Lem first said. Turning the screws in should lean out the mix, turning them out will richen it up, it's like the valve on a garden hose...

I just don't get it, because the screws go out into the bore so if you turned it in it would reduce the amount of air flowing. Not only that but how come I turn it in and it richens? Maybe its because of how edelbrocks are setup differently than holleys.

I think the Coug and Vic Eldebrock worked with Pro-comp on that carb design

Re: Quick Fuel Carb. Adjustment
The reason I didn't go to Quick Fuel becauseI was wanting the information in the evening and Quick Fuel are not open 24 hours a day. I was just searching the interenet asking to find information about a Quick Fuel Carb. and didn't even realize this was a Ford site. I really didn't think that it would make any difference in adjusting a carb. even if you had a Ford, Dodge, Chevy or something else. I just wanted the information.
I have owned Fords before also and more than likely you guys have owned different cars too unless you are still young.
