1050 cranking amps. You only need one. They have free shipping. You can mount it any way you want too.

Re: battery question
You wont need an alternator, but you can run one.
I use the old Moroso charger which is said to have a "cleaner" charge, I think the guy that used to make them for Moroso now builds the one Rock sells.
Initial investment was 750 bucks and worth every penny.

Re: battery question
So there is "no extra work" involved? .....like wiring issues, selonoids, ignition or whatever is electrically affected?
You just basically replace the 12v battery with a 16v battery and not have to worry or do anything else?

Re: battery question
on a drag car no but yes .... on a street car with an ecu, fuel injection etc.... you do have to installer a voltage step down box --- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PWM-993

Re: battery question
We run the car, MSD digital 7, FAST XFI, intercooler pump and AMS-1000 all of the same battery with no step down box. If we ran an alternator then you would have to have one because the 18+ volts that you would get would kill the electronics. Our data logger shows exactly 16 volts at all times with the Rock battery. All we did was take the 12volt out and put the 16 volt in. We use the Moroso charger too but the one on Rock Battery's site looks like the same thing.
$599 for the combo with FREE shipping.
or if you also want a 12v circuit.

Re: battery question
I have the V 16volt battery with dual post 16v & 12v. I have been happy with it, but customer service at Batteries r us is some of the poorest I have ever dealt with. The only thing I run on the 12v side is a LM1.

Re: battery question
Guess I'm in the minority. I've got other things I would rather spend 6-7 bills on.
For years I've run nothing but a single 12V battery and an alternator. Never a failure yet. Just a slow 2 amp charge the night before I load the car into the trailer, then race up to 2 days at a time without ever charging the battery. Never even take the charger out of the trailer, don't have to listen the generator, no step down box needed, no high voltage 16V alternator (that most put out around 19V) to fry electronics. It's never happened, but if my battery or charger crapped out I can go to the parts store 10 minutes away an be back with an exchange.
My dragster had a 588 at 14.5:1 on alky and never a problem with just a single Red Top Optima. ALWAYS started. Before that my other dragster and door cars had nothing but a big Wally World battery and alternator.
IMHO, if a single, fully charged 12V battery with an alternator won't start and maintain your stuff, you have a problem elsewhere.

Re: battery question
Making things easier, isnt a problem. Most of use dont use a alternator, so 17.2 volts is about the highest voltage seen. Every product I own is very happy with the 16v except the LM1. All pro stock, pro mod, and allmost all top classes run 16v batteries.

No, your not a minority David! I like my $95 Duralast
Re: battery question
One thing about it I have not talked to anyone that has switched to a 16 that said they would go back to a 12 and I am one of those people.
I will challenge anyone to completely drain a fuel injection system and start their engine faster than a 16 volt will with a 12 volt and an alternator. No using them sissy primer deals either
Go 2 weeks without charging and still have more power than a fully charged 12 volt .

Ky is correct, I use my Primer Plus to heat it up fast.............no need as a starting aid as the Rock has that covered.
